Police Nearing Arrests In Grand Hustle Shooting

Atlanta radio personality Ryan Cameron reported yesterday (Mar. 12) that Cincinnati police may be nearing the arrest of the shooter in a 2006 incident that left Grand Hustle Records employee Philant Johnson dead.

Cameron reported that police already have two suspects in custody, and that they are expected to issue a warrant for the arrest of a third individual. According to the V-103 host, this individual is believed to be the shooter.

The shooting took place on southbound Interstate 75 around 3am on May 3, 2006, just hours after a T.I. and Yung Joc show at Bogart’s nightclub. After the show, T.I. and his crew went to an after party at the Ritz nightclub, where an altercation forced them to leave the venue.

Reports from witnesses that night said four men followed T.I.’s two vans in their SUVs. They then pulled up next to the rapper’s vans and fired, killing Johnson and injuring three others.

I spend a lot of time holding the microphone and performing,” said T.I. at Johnson’s funeral. “But I ain’t never did nothing quite
this hard. … For my partner, I ain’t even going to focus on no
negativity. … Family forever, and I love you.
