Playboi Carti has received some kind words from Erykah Badu following a viral clip of Iggy Azalea revealing he has not been in their child’s life in over six months – though it’s not clear whether the two moments are related.
Taking to his Instagram Story on Wednesday (January 15), Carti shared a DM he received from the legendary singer.
“Love u . Keep on,” it read.

Appearing on streamer Amouranth’s Twitch channel this week, a fan asked Iggy Azalea to tell her ex to drop his long-awaited album, and she had quite the response.

“Someone’s saying, ‘Tell Playboi Carti to drop,’” Iggy said. “I don’t speak to him, my love. We haven’t heard from that man in over like, six months. We don’t know where he is. Have no idea, have no association. You would have to tell somebody that speaks to him, wherever he is. We don’t know or care.”
The sad news isn’t too surprising, as last summer, Iggy Azalea revealed she’s flying solo when it comes to parenting their young son.
Four-year-old Onyx was born in 2020, but the two rappers split right around that time. During her appearance on the Dinner’s On Me podcast, Iggy said that Carti has not stepped up in the time since.
“I’m very much a single mother,” she said. “I’m very much the only parent. No disrespect, but I am not co-parenting right now and that’s just the reality of it. It’s one, it’s 24/7.”

In 2023, Carti and Onyx appeared in a mini-documentary named Dear O, which contained home video footage capturing sweet moments between the father-son duo.
However, the short film wasn’t received well by Iggy.
In a sarcastic message posted on X the following day, the Aussie rapper took issue with Carti being portrayed as a doting daddy, writing: “Its cool how you can fit damn near every visit into just one video [white heart emoji] Talented!”
