Playboi Carti fans have been waiting for new music from the elusive rapper for years – and an angry recording artist from the Big Apple seems to have confirmed that he’s definitely working on something.

A pair of viral social media posts about Carti have been making their rounds this week, with both speaking about how he booked out an entire New York City recording studio and prevented others from working.

“So I’m on my way to the studio with my manager and I get a text message talking about Playboi Carti booked a whole floor and now your session is cancelled,” one woman said in a video. “Playboi Carti, I don’t like you.”

Another shared his similar story in a tweet. “They said Carti been buying every room at Manhattan Beach for the last couple of days. It’s time.”

When a fan expressed doubt and called this another rumor that would ultimately lead to nothing, he confirmed his first-hand knowledge. “Lol not a rumor. I live in NY & work in music. I def been trying to book studio time there but can’t because every room is booked by guess who.”

Playboi Carti hasn’t released a project since 2020’s Whole Lotta Red – which has been his most successful album to date. The LP debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with 100,000 album-equivalent units sold in its first week, marking Carti’s first-ever chart-topper.

Since then, he’s teased new music but nothing concrete. However, he has popped up on a few features, including tracks by A$AP Rocky and Kid Cudi.

In November, Cudder teased the new collab during the Paris stop of his To The Moon world tour. As he cued the song, the crowd erupted after hearing the new record samples Cudi’s classic track from 2009 called “Solo Dolo (Nightmare).”

Fans could hear Carti open the song as Cudi told the soundman to “Turn that shit up” causing those in attendance to cheer and start moshing. The Cleveland, Ohio native kept the rage going by dancing even more once his verse crept up on the track after Carti.

There’s no word on where the song will be featured or even if there’s a release date. But according to reports on social media, the song is titled “Solo Dolo, Pt. IV” and by the looks of the crowd reaction and Cudi dancing, the collaboration could be another hit between the duo.
