Pete Rock & Nas Reunite On Lost Tapes Vol. 2

It has been 16 years since fans heard a young Nas rocking over a legendary Pete Rock production. The Queensbridge emcee and Mount Vernon producer crafted “The World Is Yours,” the final single from Illmatic. Much like with Large Professor, their separation has been the subject of speculation over the years. While Nas worked with Extra P again at the turn of the decade on Stillmatic and 1st Class, the Chocolate Boy Wonder has remained estranged from Nasir.

According to a tweet from Pete Rock yesterday, his productions will appear on Nas’ upcoming The Lost Tapes Vol. 2. Given that The Lost Tapes are made up of previously recorded material that wasn’t released, this was likely recorded years ago. No word on what album they recorded the song for though.

    1. Beautiful! Let the REAL hip hop continue! Thank you Pete & Nas for keeping it going! I’m about to go there…. Pete Rock, we need another Pete/CL album before it’s all over with! I know you said you both came to a point where you had major diffences, but man, the chemistry you both had! PLEASE reconsider it for “we” TRUE HEADS! We love you bruh! Keep up the great work! You, Large Pro, & Premo are the reasons I love to make beats! Stay up!

    2. thats what i’m talkin about…finally some GOOD NEWS for hip hop…i just read Dre was working with Dipset and almost smashed my computer…

looking forward to Lost Tapes 2…loved the first one…cant wait for next “new” Nas joint too, the album with Damien Marley was sooooooo dope….keep it up Nas…

    3. I’m hoping and praying that it’s not that Nature featuring Nas – The Ultimate High(Pete Rock Remix)that was made in 2002…If it is then The Chocolate Boy Wonder can go right ahead and discard that Tweet ASAP…

    4. dayyyum that just made my day, hopefully there will be a preem joint as well, this would be beyond classic…

    5. Nas has been consistent lately, that Distant Relative album is a classic, hopefully Lost Tapes 2 will continue that trend

    6. Hallelujah!!!!! This is a lot to ask…but I think we need an Illmatic 2 with all the original producers, same 10 track format..this man can single handedly save hip hop…..Dre was supposed to, and its pretty clear thats not happening…

      1. You must have a bootleg version then. Cuz the version I have is credited to Large Professor. Large Pro made that and made a version on his album of the same. He’s even talked about the track on Stillmatic in interviews.

      2. large proffesor produced ‘your the man’ not pete rock….they havent collaborated since ‘the world is yours’

    7. ive been waiting for this for years, hope their collabo is dope. coz ‘the world is yours’ is on my top 5 list best hip hop songs ever! as for B below, wat u’ve said is not true, large professor produced ‘your the man’ on stillmatic, pete rock…

    8. Nas is really about to have the streets on smash… Lost Tapes 2, new Solo which is gonna be a Nasty Nas street album, etc… That’s what I’m talkin about! If I’m an A&R working for Nas on this next solo… I’m mapping it out… Give me 6 producers for 18 songs… Premier, Pete Rock, RZA, Buckwild, Just Blaze, No ID… don’t let Salaam Remi even think about getting on the new album
