Dr. Dre Says Eminem/Jay-Z Shows Inspired Him To Finish Detox

As Dr. Dre’s oft-delayed Detox is reaching mythical status, the west coast veteran has recently been motivated to hit the studio and try and finish the LP. One of many surprise guests in both Detroit and New York, Dre was inspired by the crowds at the Jay-Z/Eminem.

“Being on the stage with Eminem and Jay-Z was one of the most incredible feelings I’ve felt in a long time. It inspired me, it made me want to hurry up and get back in the studio and put more effort and more work into my own project,” Dre told MTV2. “The response from the people out there was just incredible. It let me know that I still got love out there and I’m not wasting my time in the studio with what I’m doing, with the music or with all the Beats product that we’re putting out.”

The Doc also said recently a Beats By Dre event that he hoped to have to Detox out by Christmas time. As always, HipHopDX.com will keep you posted. Do you think Detox will drop in 2010? Let us know in the comments.

    1. I don’t believe anything I hear about this album… until it is on a shelf… AND I CAN HEAR THIS ALBUM. True fans are starting to get fed up.

      1. Agree. I am no longer waiting for it and really don’t even care about it that much anymore. From what I’ve heard it’s just ok.

    2. 0 Chance. How could you ever put out an album that has been anticipated for almost 10 years? It will never live up to 1/4th of the hype it has continually built every year it has not come out. If he really wants to release another Studio Album he should change the name, trust me Detox will flop–

1st week sales would be around 600K, but after listening to it at a friends house you realized damn Dre this was not worth a 10 year wait, so you along with others, don’t buy the Album.

I love Dre I just hate Detox. (already)

    3. okay…so let me get this straight….dre has been working on detox for like 10 fucking years and he waits til the end of 2010 to get inspired…WTF?

i wont front like i’m not gonna cop detox WHENEVER the fuck it comes out….but yo, dre…enough talk man, PUT THAT SHIT OUT!!!!!! i mean cmon…there aint ONE complete song worth showing to the public yet? the radio? at a performance? on a fucking MIXTAPE????? NOTHING???? BULLSHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIT!!!!!!!!!!!Detox aint coming out til NEVER….but i hope i’m wrong…smh…

    4. Dr.Dre is truly a weird funny character. So now he wants to put effort into making Detox after some shows from Eminem and Jay-Z? It’s almost like Dre is fully exposing himself. It’s as if he was never working on Detox to begin with but he was leading his fans to believe that he was. Wrong move and now he is exposed. Detox should’ve been finished 2 or 3 years ago. This man needs to stay back under the grave where he’s been sitting for the past years while Eminem has steadily been releasing product because sadly nobody cares about Detox except for Dre and when it comes out expect to flop for the long ass wait because that will be his payback for misleading what’s left of his fans. When he comes back and sees that all of his fans have left him and have moved on because of his ego maniac hold up and Detox ultimately flops then that’s when Dre will feel truly hurt along with his fucked up ego just for feeling he’s the greatest ever. Not even Tupac would wait that long. Now you see what Tupac was saying all along about Dre. The nigga takes 3 years just to make one song.

    5. This dude really thinks he’s the shit to make people wait this long for a damn album…I don’t even think this dude is the greatest or the best producer of all time just because of this shit he’s doing…Dre is ruining his own status…I think people have been gassing his ego and kissing his ass in the music industry for a long ass time…I don’t even see him as having the #1 slot as the greatest producer anymore because he just killed that with this long ass wait for Detox…Dude really thinks he’s a mega monster producer and shit…He did “Okay You’re Right” for 50 Cent and nobody gave a fuck about it…It was a hard record but nobody cared…Sorry it’s over Dre…Might as well put out Detox for free…

    6. It’s about time this guy gets back into the studio for himself. I hope he releases something that is inspiration and intricate. Just not hard hits and soul driven samples. I’m not the biggest Dre fan but I believe he has all the tools necessary to release something monumental that could reach the masses in a different way than The Chronic.

    8. I hope now Slaughterhouse gets a spot on the album, detroit, jersey, ny, westcoast. Also bring focus, mel-man, and scott storch back for this last joint.

      1. Haa I know right and I wouldn’t be shocked if it does come out on that paticular date too. On some end of days shit!!!

    9. The more fans wait for Detox the more dissapointed they will get.He is still a great producer, let’s not forget he got some great beats for Eminem,X,50cent and many others in these 10 years,it’s impossible not to recognize his status as a great producer. But i think most of the fans stopped waiting for it,even tho the rap game these days could use some cool beats by Dre.Guess we will see hope he can surprise us.

    10. Honestly i could see why Dre is feeling inspired from those two concerts, I have been to many super dope concerts, but the renegade tour was probably so special that anyone leaving that concert without having some inspiration towards hip hop music should have probably not been there. Can you imagine what it felt like to be in front of all those fans with jay-z and eminem and get so much love from the audience?Dre has been working on this album for a very long time and from my understanding has hundreds of records, and if you think about it him having a timeline of 10 years on it he must have some verses from everybody in different states of mind(think Hov before and right after black album, etc…)I am not going to anticipate a xmas release, but i do hope that he doesn’t just pile 13 new songs that he just started working on, Dr Dre should make Detox a double cd and include all the people that have been there troughout his career(mostly westcoast)and also have big collaborations.I have not lost faith in the good doctor and strongly believe that Detox will shock a lot of people, will it live up to the hype??Only time will tell, untill then we have a lot of quality music coming out to look forward too and we should let the man continue to create the ultimate hip hop masterpiece that he has been trying to create for the last ten something years

    11. it’s only allowed to be released if Jimmy Iovine says so. “Yes Sir, Boss” say Dre. “You kno best, Sir”

    12. Man, I’m getting tired of hearing about Detox. Everytime someone asks him about the delays, what does he say? “I want it to be perfect.” C’mon Dre, you were trying to make it perfect for the past ten years. It shouldn’t take THAT long to make a great record.

And how does an Eminem/Jay-Z concert inspire you to finish your album? You made The Chronic in a month and it was classic. THAT should bring the fire out of you to make a great record and finish it at a quick pace.

So in the end, since he’s saying he wants the album to be so freakin’ perfect, ALL the tracks have to be top notch. The album has to have NO fillers, all the lyrics have to be dope, all the guest appearances have to bring their A-game (no slackers), the skits have to be dope and even the album cover and the booklet have to have dope artwork on it. I don’t want to see or hear anything half-assed or I won’t be buying the album. I’m through with what I have to say. Peace!

      1. hell, the name of the album better be dope, the fuckin name of the tracks better be dope, goddamn if i see any bullshit wack track lengths i aint even gonna buy that shit

      2. word up at the two post above me.. the booklet font better be ill, i want the album to smell different. i want it to smell perfect.

    13. the problem with Dr. Dre is not that it’s been 10 years since the last album. The real problem is that he told us that an album was comin’ up a while ago, an never did. any marketing expert would tell you he screwed up because now people are waiting for something that was supposed to come out couple years ago. whatever what’s going to come out won’t be appreciated as much as it would normally be.

    14. I can’t see this gettin a xmas release. I’d say something like March-May 2011. like someone said above me Dre sayin that he been inspired to now get in the studio from this is makin it sound like he aint really been doin nuthin like how we been hearing. I hope he gets the right guest appearances for the album tho, fuck that dipset shit. Can anyone tell me wasup with nate dogg right now?

    15. dre is worried people won’t accept his albums the same as they once did. dre is a perfectionist. man put the shit out. hell i liked that song with him n jigga everybody was downing it but the song was an intro to the album.
