Paul Wall Rolling with Skinheads???

Famous Southerner Paul Wall is joining forces with punk rockers Skinhead Rob (of The Transplants) and Travis Barker (of Blink 182). With Barker behind most of the production, their new group Expensive Taste will be working on a debut album.

None of the three are rookies. Barker has gone multi-platinum with various releases from Blink 182 and has worked with The Transplants, Aquabats and Box Car Racer to form an impressive catalog. Rob has been around the rock/punk genre for awhile and has become a leader with The Transplants. Hip hop heads know Paul Wall from his recent rise to stardom in music and in making iced out grills.

Rob spoke to a website (ballerstatus.net) to confirm the news and explain their attitude towards the project.

“We’re about doing our thing, and we understand motherf—ers are gonna hate on us for whatever reason and people are gonna love us for whatever reason. We’re just gonna take the good with the bad, and it’s whatever with us,” Rob said.

He also added that, although the pairing is odd, their friendships made working easy.

Paul is the homie and he’s one of the coolest dudes I’ve come across…It’s real lucky when you get a chance to work with people who are like that and have that kind of good heart. He’s just a genuine good person ’cause a lot of people in this business are some fake ass, fraud ass, snake in the grass ass motherf—ers,” he claimed.

The emcees/musicians understand that their differences and similarities create a unique mixture of talent. “With Paul from being [from Houston] and me and Travis being from [the West Coast], it all works wonderfully to me,” explained Rob. “We live our different lifestyles, but we are the same motherf—in’ people; we do the same sh–. We just got the great chemistry together and it’s a lovely thing, for sure.”

Expect an album in the third or fourth quarter of 2006.
