“Victory Laps (Madvillain Remix)” by DOOMSTARKS

Early last week, Nature Sounds Records revealed that “DoomStarks” is still happening. This is a new name to a five-year project recorded by MF DOOM and Ghostface Killah around 2005 or 2006. Originally believed to be for Def Jam Records during Jay-Z’s “Def Jam Left” string of signings – which included The Roots and others, the album was reportedly never finished, or cleared for release. The label that has released albums from J Dilla, Havoc and Blu noted otherwise this week, announcing news of release plans, and unloading a new “Madvillain remix” to “Victory Laps” . In 2011, anything is possible – just look at Saigon’s The Greatest Story Never Told.

“Royal Mega” and “Brain” by Black Milk and Jack White

Black Milk is a phenomenal musician, as we saw yesterday at the seventh annual Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival with Random Axe. The producer/emcee was on the radar of The White Stripes’ Jack White, who collaborated with the Decon/Fat Beats/Duck Down Records affiliate on two records “Royal Mega” and “Brain” . Reportedly belonging to a “surprise project,” who knows where this could be headed, but the Tronic creator deserves props in as many circles as possible.

“Sorry 4 The Wait” by Lil Wayne

In true Weezy F. fashion, Lil Wayne beat-jacked Adele’s “Rolling In The Deep” for “Sorry 4 The Wait” , the title cut from his just-released mixtape. This record served as one of the tape’s better offerings, and a definite sign of the latest evolution in Lil Wayne’s six-year ascent from Hot Boy to one of Rap’s biggest and most commercial stars of all time.
