The Bridgeport Music Group, of Michigan, are planning to sue over 800 artists citing that they have not been properly compensated for sample usage.
Bridgeport Music Group owns almost the entire catalog of George Clinton’s music with Parliament and Funkadelic bands. Since George Clinton has been sampled to death, this means a lot of urban artists and labels are being targeted.
Included in the suit are even the major labels like, BMG Entertainment, EMI Group, Sony Entertainment, Universal Music Group, Warner Music Group and BMI.
