After “Speakerbox/The Love Below, many were wondering what Outkast had planned for the future. Things are looking clear right now. With new movies and music on the way, Big Boi and Dre will have a busy year ahead of them.
If fans saw “Four Brothers and liked what -Andre3000 brought to the big screen, they’ll be excited about this new project. Outkast brings us their first movie, “My Life in Idlewild.”
The film will come out in next January. It is a musical set in the South during the Prohibition Era. It’s also got big names tied to the project such as Patti Labelle, Ving Rhames, Macy Gray, Terrence Howard and of course, Andre and Big Boi.
According to the Internet Movie Data Base, it will also be produced by Bryan Barber who has worked on various Outkast videos in the past like “Hey Ya!”
It will be set in the 1930’s, which brings us to the music.
The soundtrack will come as the new Outkast album. It will be inspired by the movie’s time period and theme. Big Boi describes it as “a natural progression” and says it has a ragtime feel mixed with the hip-hop Outkast is known and loved for.
The soundtrack will be titled “Idlewild” and will be released in January.
