Noname Says She’s No Longer Going To ‘Dance On A Stage For White People’

Noname recently decided to air out some of her frustrations via Twitter. On Thursday (November 28), she shared a photo of a woman applying clown makeup while taking a stab at Lizzo’s fans and lamenting her own predominately white fanbase.

“me consistently creating content that is primarily consumed by a white audience who would rather shit on me than challenge their liberalism because some how liking Lizzos music absolves them of racist tendencies.”

When a fan asked suggested black people don’t typically attend concerts, she conceded to their point and also insinuated she was retiring from touring.

“That’s real,” she replied. “Unfortunately, I’m not going to keep performing for predominately white crowds. I have two shows on the books then after that I’m chilling on making music. If y’all don’t wanna leave the crib I feel it. I don’t want to dance on a stage for white people.”

Unsurprisingly, Noname’s post sparked a social media debate, which carried on to the next day.

“Y’all really pushing the idea that black people can’t come to my shows because of black death and financial restraint ???” she tweeted on Friday (November 29). “As if Dababy, Megan and Smino shows ain’t black as hell? Say you don’t like my shit and move around lol.”

And the Chicago native wasn’t done there. On Saturday (November 30), Noname explained in another tweet she wasn’t alone in her beliefs but one of the only artists who has the courage to speak up.

“whats funny is most black artist are just as uncomfortable performing for majority white crowds but would never publicly say that out of fear and allegiance to [money],” she wrote. “Which isnt a bad thing necessarily cause niggas gotta eat but yall wouldnt be up and arms if I quit workn @ McDonalds.”

She continued, “when I got to work, thousands of white people scream the word nigga at me. and no I’m not changing my art so it is what it is. catch me @nonamebooks.”

As Noname’s comments started making the rounds, she issued a stern directive, “Stop using my tweets as content.”

    (Welp.)

      1. Fuck off whithey or crakkker lover. I also dont understand how whitheys love rap music and still got the nerve to use racial slurs towards African Americans. Stick to country music crakkkers.

        1. Is it that common for whiteys in America to use racial slurs towards minorities in 2019? On a separate note, is she calling her fans racist because they sing along with her songs or is there something else that caused her to accuse them of having racist tendencies?

        2. They love to use racial slurs to black people. But they can’t do without our black music and black culture. Proof they on a hip hop site that represents BLACK CULTURE.

        3. Dude, im white and ill listen to whatever the fuck i wanna listen to and im not gonna let some racist piece of shit tell me what i can abd can’t listen to. That bitch shit is why there’s so much division.

    1. White people aren’t going to be outnumbered by current minorities for a while and Hip Hop is the number one music genre rn so idk if she expected the critics who gave the latest lo-fi indie rock band sensation a 9/10 to stay away from reviewing her music just because “we don’t relate to it” and for white consumers to look at how the album showcases minority struggles and say “nah I don’t wanna lend support cause my kind should only listen to Maroon 5” while she instead gets big sales numbers from colored people just because its all about black and brown excellence or whatever fantasy she thought of… But that’s something we call “fame” in the 21st century you cutie… She should honestly feel lucky to even be able to get that fame cause more fame gets passed on to the least deserving people including other female rappers who don’t put in the effort Noname would (cough cough Cardi cough Lizzo cough cough)

      1. 500 odd years of oppression will do that…and “whites” are just as obsessed, as their skin tone is, in their minds, the key to their superiority.

        1. Oppression that you’ve never had to face. “Post traumatic slave disorder” my balls. Some of the softest shit I’ve heard in my life. Do you know how many rich and successful black people exist in the US? Enough for your excuses to mean nothing.

            1. JezusDiaz, everyone has hardships. No one gives a fuck about you. If you can’t succeed, it isn’t racism- it’s you. There are zero racist laws on the books in the US today. Cops aren’t out killing black men in droves. You’ve been fed lies to keep you weak, and it’s obviously worked.

    2. This is like me being a famous minority in Japan complaining the audience at my shows are all asian. You can”t get any dumber than this haha you just can’t. Black lives matter! Haha

    3. Good. Stay off the damn stage stinky, nappy, dumb, ugly ass bitch. Your “music” was garbage anyways. When you become a famous “musician” in the US what did you expect? The majority of hip hop fans are white dumbass. Go take a bath. You stink.

    4. So NOW you LOST the blacks and alienated the whites, NO ONE is gonna support your ‘NO NAME NO TALENT’ racist ugly AZZ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    5. So she’s mad for having support of white people? Better to have none? Her music is exclusive to enjoy for one race only -blacks? What a way to fight the already existing racial divisions in society. Some of these “artists” nowadays really are fucked in the head…

    6. So she’s being racist because she feels some of her white audience might be racist. Hmm – people of all colours can be racist – including you. Her comment is essentially apartheid.

    7. so this is racism. if a white artist says they dont want to see black people at their shows, itd be a huge thing. sounds like she doesnt like her fan base if theyre not black. i think white people should stop supporting black people in general. they dont like it. it bothers them. let black people support black people, and when they dont, shrug n say ‘thats what you wanted’.

      1. Well that’s because they have been manipulated by a certain minority in the US to blame every shortcoming on wypipo. Lyor Cohens and Jerry Hellers of the industry promoting gangsta rap to black youth has been detrimental to black community.

    8. Hip hop artists are very often publicly dishonest people struggling hard to maintain a false image for the media. I don’t know her music but I appreciate her honesty and respect her inner struggle. She’s a person first, performer second. No need for people to take it personally.

      1. Nah. It’s one thing to say you don’t want to perform for certain cultures, but skin colors? That’s just plain racist.

        1. Shes racist as hell. Its dumb too, even if you didnt like white people, taking their money and giving them trash seems like a good idea.

      2. Don’t take it personally, entire race of people that she just insulted! After all, blacks can’t be racist, because I just changed the definition of what that word means.

      3. This bitch mf...hip-hop is ours. You a guest boomer. You only like hip-hop cuz your college buddies love the sounds of niggas killing each other. You just mad cuz you can never be down. So hate from tue sideline like the weak punk u are. says:

        So why you here snowflake??

    9. I just wanna know, what kind of white people listen to this trash? Probably some basic white bitches… Most white people stick to old school hiphop from what I’ve seen.

    10. Been like this forever, just saw Wu and felt like the only nigga in attendance. But who’s at fault? Around the world people that aren’t black are the only ones showing respect to our pioneers and real artists. What she forgot to mention is Megan and Baby’s music is ghetto as hell…for some reason that IS the only shit we’ll support…

    11. That sucks cause shes the best rapper in the world I guess I just have ro listen to all the white rappers now that actually sell records. What a bummer

    12. These days it’s often the people who think they are taking a stand against racism who are the most racist of them all. Fk this nobody clown.

    13. White or Black who gives a fuck? Stop the racism. It goes both ways even if you think it does not. I don’t see color I see humans. Truth.

    14. I’ve always been a huge fan of her, but I guess I can’t listen to her anymore because I’m white. Well that sucks.

Nah, but fuck noname for this. What a petty stupid thing to say. What the fuck???

      1. Woaahhhh dude, you should be angry at yourself for listening to this trash ass music in the first place! Kidding, kind of. You do you, music is subjective, and we all like what we like.

    15. Lmfaooo what a dumb racist bitch. If her white fans have a brain in their head they’ll boycott this trash and she can fade out.

        1. Boycotting is the literally most peaceful way to fight anything in the world dude lol. There is literally no more peaceful approach.

    16. Never heard of her, but this infuriates me. I’ll teach her a lesson by boycotting her music. Oh wait, that’s what she wants. New plan, I will be purchasing all this young ladies’ catalog on Amazon and listening to it constantly on repeat until she apologizes for her bigoted statements. Yeah, that’ll show her. Who’s with me?

    17. It’s her choice. But if thousands of white ppl are screaming the N word at her, can’t she do wat Kendrick did and tell fans not too it. However if she doesn’t feel she wants to then it’s her choice. I heard her shows aren’t actually predominantly white atall..but I don’t know if that is true. End of day artists r ppl and don’t owe anyone else sh#t. If she want to quit she can quit. Her choice. Her happiness comes first. Personally I won’t miss her when she gone but I’m sure her fans will enjoy wat she made in past.

      1. Cool story. But when you’re in the public eye and mumble some racist trash like this hooker did, you’re gonna get called out on it.

        1. If an artist can’t handle their own lyrics being parroted back at them then they shouldn’t write them to begin with. It’s honestly pathetic how rappers are getting triggered by stuff that they wrote.

    18. That’s not cool. Race and skin color don’t mean anything. Culture is what matters. Character… Again, race isn’t what separates us. It is culture. And yes, black people and white people often do have different cultural norms….. Which is why some people will say a black person is “acting white”, or that a white person is “acting black”. I find it disrespectful, considering “acting white” is speaking with literacy, and “acting black” is sagging pants and acting a fool. It’s offensive to say that’s a black thing, because in reality, that’s a fool thing. Plenty of black people who do not partake in ignorant behavior, so it must suck sometimes being grouped in, just because of your skin color.

      1. To those black people, who think the culture is about acting stupid, bringing chaos to their own, and devaluing everything they touch, fuck em.

    19. Put it in this perspective. If Eminem had a dominantly black fanbase, and he said that he would stop doing shows, people would flip the hell out. This woman is a racist piece of shit, she should be happy that she has a fanbase. I’ve heard her music, it’s nothing to be proud of.

    20. Just a thought.. this might be a way for her to promote her new career as a ‘woke’ writer .. she told followers to follow a new account with the word “book” in it .. it’s caused a lot of publicity and now she will be lauded by ‘woke’ ppl as a martyr who sacrificed her music career for her principles..web actually maybe she was bored with music, it wasn’t paying enough, etc. In the music industry ppl often say and do stuff for publicity

    21. I went to a noname concert in brussels last year, it was shortly after nip got shot

Everything was going fine and suddenly… She stopped, she started crying saying that nip was an important figure to black people and that performing in front of a predominantly white crowd hit her somehow and left the stage

At first I thought it was primarily about nip being such an important figure e to the black community but i reallise now that the crowd being white was the real reason… But what did she expect!? She was in EUROPE!

It’s too bad that she feels this way. Those white people supported her and her message. They are fans who appreciated her music and personality… Not some slave owners looking at their property dance…

I hope she at least understands that, because right now, she is as much a part of the problem. She could have used her platform to bring people together, alas she chooses to divide…

    22. Like I give a fuck?
Next time you are here you are in town I will make sure my white family always show your rich, affluent, racist ass has my address, so hopefully any kids you bring with you has a real world idea of people, not color, you ignorent piece of meat!

    23. Never heard of ya, never came to see ya, never would…if u wanna sabotage ur career thats ur own business i wish u the best.

    24. She’s as ugly on the inside as she is on the outside. She don’t wanna dance for white people? Cool. Just don’t complain when you ain’t getting that bag of white $$$$ no more lol.

    25. Noname, I’m a lil late…just got through reading the comments below…you really hurt ’em bad…lol
