For his upcoming album The Force, Mikkey Halsted has enlisted production entirely from No I.D. and The Legendary Traxster.
The Chicago, Illinois producers have previously helped drive the mainstream potential of regional music. They previously worked together on tracks for Twista (“The Heat” featuring Raekwon) and Big Sean (“I Do It”
).
“If you know the history, when you really go back for Chicago Hip Hop, me and Traxster really kind of started what I would call the mainstream Hip Hop movement for Chicago,” said No I.D. “We pioneered it. In theory, two sides of town, two styles of music, but a real Hip Hop perspective and a creative perspective.”
“We was in the same city,” added Traxster. “He’s my senior by a few years in music, coming in the game, but at some point I was the young punk who had came up. We never really had a lot of conversations. We had a mutual respect… We never really kicked it until I was trying to expand my career and I came to Atlanta where Dion was. He embraced me and said, ‘Man, this is where you need to be.’”
