NLE Choppa has paid tribute to 2Pac in a new photoshoot to stir up excitement for his latest single, which has itself caused quite a bit of controversy.

On Wednesday (April 17), the Tennessee native shared a naked photograph of himself in a bathtub with his crotch covered in jewelry, alluding to a 1996 photo series of the late California rapper by David LaChapelle.

The Memphis rapper has cited Tupac Shakur as one of his biggest inspirations countless times before, and has even cosplayed the Death Row Records legend in the past.

Back in 2021, he partnered with legendary designer Karl Kani to recreate a number of iconic looks by the rapper during his brief yet impactful run in the 90s.

Upon sharing the images on social media, the “Shotta Flow” hitmaker included a quote by Pac that resonated with him as well as one of his own.

“Death Is Not The Greatest Loss In Life,” the post’s caption read. “The Greatest Loss Is What Dies Inside While Alive. Never Surrender -Tupac Amaru Shakur. Hoping Love Approaches Now And Not When When The Person Dies -NLE #2pac.”

Soon after, the rapper’s stylist Sankara Xasha Turé wrote on her Instagram Story that they’d recreated the looks in less than 24 hours, revealing that Kani had actually given them a hoodie Pac actually wore back in the day.

Later that year, NLE Choppa joined Power 106 for an interview and talked about other artists he has been compared to ever since he entered the Hip Hop circuit.

“Uh, I don’t know, I feel like I get a lotta Michael Jackson ’cause the type of energy I bring,” he said. “Somebody said I look like him, I don’t know. Who life I can [change].”
