NLE Choppa Defends Decision To Perform At Atlanta’s Black Pride Weekend

NLE Choppa has no regrets about performing at Atlanta’s Black Pride Weekend.

The Memphis rapper showed his support for the LGBTQ+ community this past Sunday (September 1) where he hit the stage at The Bank and treated attendees to hits like “Slut Me Out.”

During his set, NLE anticipated backlash he may receive for the performance and issued a measured response.

“A lot of muthafuckas will ask me, ‘You a rapper, what you doing at a club like this?’” he said. “Well, I say, ‘Fuck them n-ggas.’

“You wanna know why? Every day, man, we wake up and we fight [for] acceptance. Whether it’s our skin color, whether it’s our weight, whether it’s how we look, whether it’s what our sexuality is.

“At the end of the day, I believe in one thing: I feel like everybody is equal, no matter how they drink their water, how they eat their food, how they piss, shit or muthafucking sleep, do you feel me?

Choppa also assured the crowd that he was there with sincere intentions: “I’m not here for no gimmicks, I’m not here for no extra followers, I’m not here for no extra views. ‘Cause I already got ’em if we’re keeping it a hunnid.

“I’m really here to make a difference and show y’all it’s love, bruh. We Black, no matter what.”

The 21-year-old also shared his own video recap of the event on Instagram, writing in the caption: “As A ‘Rapper’ We’ve Been Washed To Move Opposite Of Love, As I’ve Grown To An ‘Artist’ I’ve Learned To Appreciate Whoever LOVES Your Art!

“I Pray This Post Makes A Difference And Bring Comfort To People to open There Mind & Heart! We All Fight ACCEPTANCE No Matter Who & And What’s Your Battle. God Is Love, And Love Brings UNITY [fist raised emoji, Pride flag emoji].

“I Am A Heterosexual Male And If You Are That And You Know That Then What’s The Issue, God Bless [prayer hands emoji].”

Speculation surrounding NLE Choppa’s sexuality has swirled since the release of “Slut Me Out 2” in April, which includes the lyrics: “If I was a bad bitch, I’d wanna fuck me too / I’d wanna suck me too / I’d wanna slut me too.”

The rapper clarified that he was heterosexual but had nothing against those with different sexual orientations.

“I understand me being in love with myself as a BLACKMAN is so RARE to the point some people try putting the homosexual jacket on my name but with all due respect I love ALL, but my intimacy lies with women only,” he wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

NLE also previously thanked the LGBTQ+ community for their support, tweeting: “I’m noticing the LGBTQ community showing so much love to ‘Slut Me Out 2’ And I Simply Want To Say Thank You.

“IDC what’s normalized as a rapper, I was raised to Fuck with who fuck with you! So thank y’all for appreciating my craft.. My music For ALL we do NO Discrimination.”
