After touching on the subject with reference to Iggy Azalea in another part of the interview released earlier this week, Nitty Scott, MC explained why she thinks a new wave of female emcees will be able to coexist as a former generation once did.
Recalling the previously concurrent success of artists like Lil Kim, Lauryn Hill, Missy Elliott, and Eve, Scott broke down how the industry can return to a similar landscape.
“I still feel like there’s a sort of cookie-cutter formula, image, that is tested and tried and true when it comes to female artists,” she said in a clip that debuted as a part of today’s DX Daily. “But I do think that those barriers are being broken and I think that they will be broken. In some way, because of the existence of one thing and one thing only for so long, there comes a point in time where things naturally have to balance themselves out. I think the age where we can all coexist the same way there [was] Kim and Foxy but there’s Lauryn and Eve and Missy too. I think we’ll get there and I think I’m a part of that balancing act.”
Omg… Her entire existence got me speechless… She got it!
shes crazy good looking but shes a wack rapper
i mean with body that good, it should do some advantage over the music but her rapping is so below the fucking average i had to mute her to watch her music videos
Nitty can spit, she is an emcee for Real. She is naturally pretty and can rap which you would think is the recipe for some type of mainstream success but……
Too bad Kim is a joke now wrapped in plastic, Foxy have to rebuild her career from 0 after serving time, Lauryn is still undeniable but rarely drops any material, Eve and Missy are both suffering from lack of the solo material in the last 10 years. (Yes, I know about Lip Lock and how it flopped.) Currently, I see no female MC who replaced them in the meantime: Rapsody is good but has little impact to the game, Snow da Product also has her moments, Nyemiah Supreme has potential but it’s questionable where she would be without Timbo. Mainstream trash like Iggy or Nicky is obviously out of question, although the latter has much more talent and could have been a decent female rapper, yet chose to chase fame and money. Considering that she has top-notch body but somewhat limited skills, maybe Nitty Scott should have picked that route too. I mean I respect her grind and career goals but no wonder why nobody remembers her because of her music. As for the others from Lee Mazin to Noname Gypsy to Sasha Go Hard, I don’t think I’ve heard enough stuff from them to be able to judge.
The Female game Is nmessed up because these females do not have their own personality! I can’t compare them to the old rappers because the technology is there for the new female rappers – But all you see is Nicki Nicki Nicki – I heard Nitty Scott spit in the cypher but her style doesn’t fit her look – she’s elegant and pretty and maybe she would fare better if she tried to match her lyrics with her looks – but iggy, azelia, snow da product(who?) and whoever else is gonna take past my lifetime to get real females back in the game and I’m only 25 smh…..
She talks about women empowerment but spends more time focused on her looks than being innovative with her music. She’s also been trying to steal the originality of other artists like Maryann the Baegod. She preaches way more than she practices anything, and gets more likes on her pictures than her songs. Lame & washed.
1. Nitty’s friend gave her the Baegod nickname & she ran with it. That Maryann girl stalked her & attacked her for months after Nitty told her she never heard of her.
2. Nitty has an album coming out, and another released just last year. She’s supposed to disappear off the face of the earth between albums?
3. Nitty’s MUSIC & bars have gotten her on the BET Awards, MTV, FUSE – she’s been featured in the New York Times, USA Today & all major hip-hop publications – none of these articles mention her LOOKS, FASHION, BODY, NADA. ALL ABOUT MUSIC. She has toured overseas & headlined her own national tour, been endorsed by Sprite, and has a song with Kendrick Lamar. She’s been invited to speak at college panels & foundations for young girls, and her lyrics are analyzed in several classrooms nationwide (YouTube and Wikipedia provides all this info). Are you mad that she can achieve all of that independently AND get 1,000+ likes every time she puts her pretty face on Instagram? Don’t belittle a woman’s talent and accomplishments because she’s so beautiful it’s intimidating.
The only lame here is you. Get your facts straight before you speak on someone doing great work in the BLACK and LATINO community, one your little Mary Ann friend will never be apart of 🙂
