Nipsey Hussle Says His Message Will “Stay The Same” On “Victory Lap”

Recently at Summer Jam, California native Nipsey Hussle hit the stage early in the day and played some of his hits for the fans.

Before that, he talked with HotNewHipHop about the most recent developments in his career including the projects he’s working on. When asked about his upcoming album, Victory Lap, Nipsey said he’s trying to stay with the same aura of music but show growth as well.

“Well the songs changed, but the theme and the concept of what I’m trying do with that record it stayed the same all the way through,” Nipsey said when describing the album. “I think I became a little bit better at achieving what I’m trying to do, over the course of the last year. I did a ton of records, so the concept stayed the same, the titles and records have changed. As far as what it represent to my career and what I’m trying to get across with my music, the message is the same.”

When asked about the project’s sound in comparison to his past projects, Nipsey said it sounds like elements of numerous previous releases.

“If you wanted to compare it to my projects, it’s like Bullets Ain’t Got No Names Vol. 2, the original Marathon with elements of Crenshaw in it,” he said. “So a little bit of all of them three.”

Last month, Nipsey Hussle was asked about his influence regarding the business side of the music industry. He was referenced in a recent Forbes piece on Wu-Tang Clan’s The Wu – Once Upon A Time In Shaolin project. He replied that Wu-Tang is a “legendary brand” and that people have to make “creative moves” nowadays to stand out.
