Nipsey Hussle was all about ownership before his tragic passing, and his children have now been given a chance at entrepreneurship with their own Marathon clothing brick-and-mortar store.
On Wednesday (March 15), Blacc Sam (real name Samiel Asghedom), Nip’s brother and business partner, opened up about the business venture with Earn Your Leisure. Sam noted the business move would help set Nip’s children up for the future, and allow them to experience ownership.

He continued, saying that the acquisition will help reinforce the value of owning real estate and property with Nip’s kids — which is especially critical considering all the ups and downs associated with the business world.
“When I say we own it, it’s in Hussle’s kids’ names,” he said. “This is something their father worked for, and that they own, and that’s important to me. Also, just having a brick and mortar, once again reinforced what Hussle told us, and taught us.”
Sam added: “Whether you’re shit boomin’ online [or not], just having that brick and mortar, and being able to pass it down through the family, I think is important.”
This isn’t the last posthumous achievement Nipsey has had. With the help of his peers like Kendrick Lamar, Diddy and YG, he has been able to rack up plenty of platinum plaques in the years since his tragic murder.

February 16 marked the five-year anniversary since Nip’s seminal Victory Lap album was released and the RIAA posthumously awarded the late Crenshaw icon with a series of platinum plaques related to the 2018 LP. The Grammy-nominated project is now multi-platinum (2x) while “Dedication” featuring Kendrick Lamar, “Blue Laces 2,” “Last Time That I Checc’d” with YG and the Diddy-helmed “Rap N-ggas” reached platinum status.
The Belly and Dom Kennedy-assisted “Double Up” is now 3x-platinum. Solo fan favorites such as “Grinding All My Life” and “Hussle & Motivate” are also double-platinum as of last month. Victory Lap arrived to critical acclaim in 2018 and debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 with 53,000 total album-equivalent units earned in the first week.
There has even been a Nipsey Hussle docuseries greenlit with the help of LeBron James’ SpringHill production company, who partnered with Marathon Films. Titled Hussle, the doc will focus on Nip’s rise from his early days as a California kid to the acclaimed musician and the activism he’s known for today.
This will give viewers “exclusive access” to “Nipsey’s inner circle,” and will include “never-before-seen archival footage,” and interviews with over 50 collaborators including Snoop Dogg, Kendrick Lamar, Diddy, and his longtime partner, Lauren London.

“It’s an incredible honor for SpringHill to have a part in sharing Nipsey’s story and legacy with the world,” James said in a press release this past November. “He used his gift to give back to his community and lived what it means to inspire, empower, and uplift others along the way. His words, his ambition, and his actions stick with me to this day as he continues to inspire myself, our company, and people everywhere.”
