Nicki Minaj has set yet another sales milestone, and this time she’s bested a longtime rival to do it — none other than Cardi B.
On Friday (March 29), Chart Data reported that Nicki’s “Super Bass,” released on the Pink Friday deluxe edition in 2010 and as a single the following year, had been certified 12 times platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).

Signifying at least 12 million sales or sales-equivalent units, this makes it the highest certified single ever released in the United States by a female rapper.
That record formerly belonged to Cardi’s 2017 hit “Bodak Yellow,” which was certified 11 times platinum in 2022.

The Queens, New York rapper reacted to the achievement on social media just seconds after Chart Data broke the news.
“POW!!! thank you to Republic Records for always having my back,” she wrote on X (formerly Twitter). “barrrbz!!!!!!”
The “Super Bass” news wasn’t Nicki Minaj’s only sales win. Her most recent LP Pink Friday 2 was certified platinum, meaning that all of her studio albums have hit or surpassed that benchmark.
While these updates are not yet reflected on the RIAA’s website, HipHopDX has confirmed that they are accurate.

Tensions between Nicki Minaj and Cardi B exploded into public view in the fall of 2018 when a fight involving both stars and some friends broke out at a Harpers Bazaar ICONS party during New York Fashion Week.
Cardi followed that incident up with an Instagram rant clearly aimed at Nicki.
“I’ve let a lot shit slide!” she said. “I let you sneak diss me, I let you lie on me, I let you attempt to stop my bags, fuck up the way I eat! You’ve threaten other artists in the industry, told them if they work with me you’ll stop fuckin with them!!
“I let you talk big shit about me!! I addressed you once in person, I addressed you a second time in person, and every time you copped the plea!!”

She added: “But when you mention my child, you choose to like comments about me as a mother, make comments about my abilities to take care of my daughter is when all bets are fuckin off!! I’ve worked to hard and come too far to let anybody fuck with my success!!!!”
She concluded by calling out Nicki for being nothing more than a studio gangster: “Bitches talk all that shit in they raps but in real life they pussy!! This shit really is for entertainment!!”
