Cardi B’s breakthrough hit “Bodak Yellow” reached a new milestone over the weekend. As pointed out by Chart Data, Cardi’s diamond-certified single crossed the billion-view mark on YouTube and “Bodak Yellow” became the quickest to reach the benchmark by a female rapper ever.

The Bronx bombshell reacted to the news on Monday morning (August 2) by explaining the video was born out of a $15,000 budget and she let fans know she’s ready to get back to the studio to continue working on her anticipated sophomore album even while expecting a baby in September.

“Fifteen thousand dollars, A billion views later,” she wrote. “Wow that’s crazy! Super dope. Thank you all for all the support throughout the years….. Back to the lab. Love & appreciate y’all.”

“Bodak Yellow” went 10x-platinum and officially became recognized as diamond-certified by the RIAA on International Women’s Day in March. Cardi B made history as the first female rapper to ever earn a diamond plaque. The single powered Cardi into her Invasion of Privacy debut, where every song on the album is at least gold — making her the first woman to accomplish that feat as well.
