Nicki Minaj Management Changes Confirmed False

Representatives close to Nicki Minaj released a statement this morning, claiming the Young Money sensation has “dismissed” veteran Hip Hop mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs as her manager. The 2008 DXnext artist will now enlist another veteran manager, Benny Medina to handle her career business.

“By now, everyone should now that I am really strict when it comes to my representation,” began Minaj in a statement. “I had sympathy for [Diddy], however I feel as if I haven’t gotten the guidance the manager is supposed to give his client. Personally, I feel like I’m being managed by mother. Even if you play the smallest role on my team, I wish to see progress. I’d like to thank him for everything he has done for me; for taking me under his wing. I wish him the best with repping Rick [Ross].  But now that my album is about to drop, its time to get serious and stop playing games.”

Minaj’s reported new manager, Medina, is known for his hands in handling acts such as Mariah Carey and Brandy in the past. In April, it made Rap headlines when Minaj left previous manager Debbie Atney, mother to Waka Flocka Flame to join Rick Ross as Diddy’s premiere non-Bad Boy Records clients.

The emcee’s Pink Friday is planned for November 22 release. HipHopDX will keep you updated.

UPDATE: Miss Info has confirmed the above reports false. Nicki Minaj herself has also tweeted that she has never approved the quote.

lmao. i’ve never met benny medina a day in my life. we good on this side. #itspinkfridayhoeless than a minute ago via web

Editor’s Note: The parties that contacted HipHopDX this morning with the false information used Universal Motown Records contact information and letterhead, speaking on behalf of several confirmed executives. We apologize for this retraction.

    1. “I had sympathy for [Diddy]” what does this mean? that’s the reason you chose him as your manager or you had sympathy for him after you fired him. neither of that shit makes any sense.

    2. Good move, anyone allowing you to go up against Kanye and not ensure a #1 billboard spot for your first work should go! I still can’t believe the label did. If Nicki dropped the week before Thanksgivne, she still would have a #1 album. Kanye will sell more in a day than Nicki will in 3 weeks. The first female rapper to come along in a loooong time and they want to set her up for faliure. It’s a shame, I could manage her better.

    3. This happened because diddy promised her some exposure in Hollywood and it never materialized.Benny Medina is a major Hollywood player who has repped major A-list actors and Nikki don’t care for the music biz..she wants to act..that’s where her personality come from..trying to display something so hollywood can come calling..y’all seen the audition tapes so there u go

    4. ha now you all look like fools. bunch of fake scholars philosophically debating and tossing around ideas that never existed. you look like tools lol.

    5. DX NEEDS TO LEARN HOW TO RESEARCH. I SWEAR THEY PUT THIS STORY UP TODAY AND IN LESS THAN A DAY THIS HAPPENS. STOP POSTING RUMORS

    6. I think hiphopdx should verify their information .Like in this case they should have tried to contact nicki minaj and diddy.
