Nicki Minaj has announced that she’s not here for shade or shenanigans — and she doesn’t care whether you like her Barbie-inspired wig or not.
The drama started on Tuesday (July 12), shortly after the world premiere of the Barbie movie, which Minaj attended. Prior to posting pics from the premiere, Minaj posted a photo of herself sparring with her husband, Kenneth Petty — but she’d been wearing the film-inspired wig under her hat.

One fan in particular — Atlanta stylist Arrogant Tae — pointed out that the wig looked asymmetrical, and questioned who cut the wig in the first place.
“I DID!” Minaj responded on Instagram. “WHO GON CHECK ME BOO????”
Arrogant Tae wasn’t the only one who had something to say about Nicki’s wig — and he wasn’t the only one whom the “Starships” rapper clapped back against. Check out some other comments below.
The Barbie film, which is directed by Greta Gerwig and stars Margot Robbie, Ryan Gosling, Will Ferrell, Kate McKinnon, Issa Rae, Simu Liu, Michael Cera and more, finally premiered in Los Angeles on Sunday (July 9), and Nicki Minaj stopped by the red carpet in honor of her song “Barbie World” with Ice Spice appearing on the film’s official soundtrack.
During a red carpet moment, Minaj told Entertainment Tonight that this movie premiere marked a big moment for her – considering she’s been calling herself Barbie since the beginning of her career.

“I’m so excited to be here for this entire moment and I’m glad that they thought of me, because I’m excited just how everybody else is excited to see this movie,” the Pinkprint rapper said. “I know I’ve been saying Barbie my whole career and so this a very full circle moment for me.”
Prior to Minaj’s “Barbie World” arrival, the track’s remix experienced a bit of drama in June when Compton rapper JasonMartin (formerly known as Problem) took to social media to accuse her of omitting his writing credit on the track.
He claimed to be a writer on a track back when it originally belonged to Saweetie, and that his credit has since been removed.
“Y’all gon’ give me what I deserve,” Martin said on Instagram Live. “Now, if Saweetie don’t wanna trip, that’s on her … But we crafted a record that was sent over to Nicki to hop on to submit to the Barbie soundtrack.

“She said she was gonna do it … Then all of a sudden, a new version was created. Yes, it’s a sample, you can do what you want. But n-gga, you can’t hear one thing, say you’re gonna do this, then go do your version. It ain’t happening like that.”
He added: “Anybody that’s in this business knows that that’s not how this works.”
Nicki Minaj has yet to respond to the claim.
