Nicki Minaj is set to release her “Barbie World” collaboration with Ice Spice this week, but she’s being accused of stealing the idea from Saweetie.
Compton rapper JasonMartin (formerly known as Problem) took to social media on Sunday (June 18) to claim he was a writer on a track that originally belonged to Saweetie but is now being put out by Nicki — and he wants his credit.

According to him, a song he created with Saweetie was sent over to Nicki Minaj for a collaboration that she agreed to do. But instead of Saweetie being on the track, he’s alleging Nicki took the record and repurposed it for her new collaboration with Ice Spice.
“Y’all gon’ give me what I deserve,” Martin said on Instagram Live. “Now, if Saweetie don’t wanna trip, that’s on her … But we crafted a record that was sent over to Nicki to hop on to submit to the Barbie soundtrack.

“She said she was gonna do it … Then all of a sudden, a new version was created. Yes, it’s a sample, you can do what you want. But n-gga, you can’t hear one thing, say you’re gonna do this, then go do your version. It ain’t happening like that.”
He added: “Anybody that’s in this business knows that that’s not how this works.”

Nicki Minaj and Ice Spice’s song, “Barbie World,” is set to be released on Friday (June 23), built around a sample of Aqua’s 1997 hit of the same name.
Jason Martin went into more detail about his claims on Twitter, revealing his disappointment about Saweetie not being on the song and how he’ll make sure he gets paid for his work.

“As a writer on this, I can confirm this song and idea was sent to her last year to submit for the Barbie movie,” he wrote. “It’s sad to see that the original artist has been pushed off a song that was her idea and was meant for both of them. I have no side in this, but I will be compensated.”
He added: “If or when I need to detail the whole way it went down in regards to this Barbie shit, you will understand why all writers need to be compensated with day rates and contracts protecting their intellectual properties the day of. Hopefully this gets sorted out quietly. But please no I don’t scare easy.”

The full Barbie soundtrack is set to be released on July 21 — the same day as the Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling-starring film hits theaters.
The soundtrack also includes music from Lizzo, The Kid LAROI, Khalid, PinkPantheress and many others.
Meanwhile, in other Nicki Minaj news, the Queens rapper was recently the victim of some swatting, after police received false reports that she was abusing her child, and that her house was on fire.
According to TMZ, law enforcement officials in Los Angeles received two separate 911 calls on Monday (June 5) — one reporting that the “Starships” rapper’s son, known as “Papa Bear,”was being abused, and another claiming that Minaj was stuck in a house fire.
However, when first responders arrived at the scene, they found nothing to substantiate the claims that came through the switchboard.

“Sources close to Nicki tell us she’s not letting this little episode slide,” TMZ reported. “We’re told she’s hired lawyers to make sure the people behind this swatting are exposed and held accountable — which could mean criminal charges down the road.”
