News Bits (The Parker Report, E-40, Murs Contests)

    This upcoming Sunday, MTV 2 will broadcast a special Los Angeles edition of the The Parker Report. As part of the channel’s “Spankin’ New Music Week,” journalist Erik Parker sat down with prominent west coast rappers The Game [click to read], E-40 [click to read], Xzibit, and Omar Cruz as well as comedian DeRay Davis and Power 106‘s mixshow director Felli Fel.

    The artists came together in roundtable fashion to discuss current issues such as the fall of west coast rap, Hip Hop’s response to the ’08 elections, the rise of chain-snatching, and other controversial issues pertaining to Hip Hop.

    We’ve gotten Atlanta’s perspective on their scene, and the Dipset gave us their take on New York rap, it was about time that someone gave the west coast the mic,” said host and Hip Hop journalist Erik Parker. “The panel we assembled to address the concerns of west coast Hip Hop couldn’t have been more appropriate and their insight is invaluable.

    In addition to the panel discussions, Parker spoke exclusively with The Game who revealed the roots of his suicidal thoughts, his beef with Jay-Z, and his affiliation with the Bloods gang.

    The panel discussion will air on December 8th.

    In other E-40 news, Bay Area rapper E-40 is welcoming aspiring producers to submit to Loud.com their best remix to the song “Break Ya Ankles” from his new album, The Ball Street Journal. One winner will be flown to the Bay Area to meet E-40 in studio, and will get the chance to broadcast live backstage at a 40 Water show. Second and third place winners will receive a complete Serato Scratch Live Set-Up and Ableton Live Software, respectively.

    The contest closes on December 9th.
