News Bits: (Company Flow, J. Wells Releases)

    Tha Dogg Pound [click to read] affiliate J. Wells announced late last week that he will be following up his 2005 release Digital Master with a sequel. The producer, who recently did work on Keyshia Cole‘s platinum Just Like You album, has steadily produced for his DPG brethren, Goodie Mob and Planet Asia.

    On April 14th, through his own Bonzi Records imprint, Wells will release Digital Master 2.1, his first release since 2007’s joint effort with Kurupt, Digital Smoke [click to read]. The release features Estelle, Mack 10, Kurupt, WC, Snoop Dogg and Rah Digga.

    Additionally, Wells is in the studio right now with Ne-Yo, Katt Williams and Rakim, among others.

    In other news, Definitive Jux Records will be re-releasing Company Flow‘s 1997 album Funcrusher Plus. The album, made by Def Jux founder El-P, as well as Mr. Len and Bigg Jus was originally released on the now-defunct Rawkus Records.

    The full version of a self-released 1996 EP, Funcrusher Plus spawned the single “Blind” [click to read] as well as fan favorite “8 Steps To Perfection” [click to read], a song eventually used on DJ Premier‘s New York Reality Check 101 mix-album.

    The defining document of ’90s Hip Hop dissent,” wrote VIBE magazine of the release.

    The re-release will be digital, CD and vinyl formats.
