News Bits: Chamillionaire, Jin The MC

    When Chamillionaire [click here] said he’d be retiring from the mixtape scene to focus on new material, fans were confused. After all, Cham had been releasing tapes for many years and it became a trademark of his. Those fans who were worried can be relieved in some ways, because Cham is returning with new music in the form of “Good Morning,” [click to listen] a catchy feel-good song dedicated to “haters” in his life, the first release off of his third full length album set drop December 8.

    I want to show all my haters love! This song’s for you. If you had it like me and I was in your shoes, I’d probably hate on me too,” he says over a beat that heavily samples Tom Petty’s “Free Fallin’.”

    Earlier in 2009, Cham released a statement noting that he’d stay away from mixtapes to focus his energy on his third album, one that would feature his growth as an artist and as a person.

    I hope that my fans will understand that over time, you grow as a person and this means you will evolve as an artist. The experiences that you encounter throughout your life all contribute to those changes and that is bound to affect the music an artist feels like making at any given time,” he said. That album, once again, is slated for release December 8.

    In other news, Jin The MC [click to read] has been making a name for himself in Asia. The rapper, who has become a musical sensation there, is also a born-again Christian. In a recent release “Welcome to the Light Club,” Jin speaks on his religious views.

    “It’s been a long time, right? Stepped away from the limelight/ but the break’s over. Holy Spirit takeover/ they say the truth will set you free, if you so believe/ Jesus is the truth. With Him, freedom can be achieved,” he rhymes.
