Some may think the ambitious nature of their names is a bit cocky, but Lute and Dolla plan to make an even bigger impression. The two Los Angeles natives have gained some indie respect, but they have their eyes on a major label deal in the near future.
According to the duo, named NV, there are some conversations that need to be finalized.
“We talking to a couple of labels, but we’re going to weigh our options and make the right decision.” says Lute. “But until we do we gone keep on grinding, making mix tapes and albums and getting this money. Pep Boi’s gone eat regardless!!” said Dolla via statement.
Some of that may be related to their upcoming album The Beginning of the End. That album will feature production from fellow L.A. musicians Jellyroll, BattleCat and many others. It is set to be released to the streets this Summer.
Into soul? Johann Michael, a young Filipino singer, is ready to help with that. He isn’t just an ordinary singer, though. He’s also taken on a role in a Tony Award winning musical, Miss Saigon.
Aside from being a musical act, he’s also started a production company Kuya Productions. Through it, he’s gotten to connect with many of today’s biggest hit makers.
His album The Soulful Sounds of Johann Michael is a soulful offering, as the title suggests. His first single, “Smilin’ People”, is an entry to the old school sounds you can find on the album. Check out Johann at http://www.myspace.com/johannmichael.
Blitz the Ambassador is already on his third album. His newest offering Suicide Stereotypes follows in the footsteps of the independently released Double Consciousness and Soul Rebel.
On the strength of those two albums, he’s gotten a chance to tour and open up for The Roots, Jurassic 5, De La Soul, Deadprez, Mos Def, Talib Kweli and more.
If you are in the New York area, you may get a chance to check him out as he perform his entire new album in Nublu., as he will be accompanied by a full live band and all of the artists who are featured on his album.
