Ne-Yo is one of R&B’s biggest stars, but that doesn’t mean that he won’t put fans in their place if they get too eager with him while he’s strutting his stuff.
During a recent performance at Nelly’s Hot In Herre Festival in Toronto, the Grammy Award-winning artist sprung into action after an excited fan took his trademark fedora off the top of his head.

With a quick-witted smile and a simple grab of his garment, Ne-Yo made sure to let her know that touching his hat is completely off-limits.
“Kai’s not a Ne-Yo fan. She know good and goddamn well she wasn’t supposed to grab my hat,” the “Closer” singer said. “Kai get your ass back over there!”

Ne-Yo then preceded to scoot the fan off stage by the waist so that he could continue his performance. As she performed a quick twerk dance before exiting, the crooner put the final nail in the coffin by pretending to boot her off the stage by kicking his leg out in hilarious fashion.
Once the video starting going viral on social media, the 43-year-old singer saw the funny side of things by leaving a few laughing emojis under an Instagram post.

Meanwhile, Ne-Yo admitted in an interview last month that JAY-Z is still upset with him for giving away a hit song he wrote for Mario.
In a June conversation on Shannon Sharpe’s Club Shay Shay podcast, he said he gave “Let Me Love You” to Mario while he was still primarily a songwriter, shortly before he signed to Def Jam in 2005.

The “Miss Independent” crooner then said that upon meeting Hov for the first time after getting signed, the only thing he could talk about was how he gave away the chart-topping single.
“Shortly before the Def Jam situation happened, I leaned on songwriting,” Ne-Yo said. “I was just a songwriter so I wrote a song for Mario, [‘Let Me Love You’]. So this song goes on and stays at number one for 12 or 13 weeks, something like that, becomes one of the most-played songs in radio history.”
He continued: “The first time I got to meet JAY-Z, I’d been signed for a couple months at this point. I walk into the room and he’s in there. It’s in L.A. Reid’s office. I walk in, ‘Hey, it’s nice to meet you.’ He like, ‘Man, why you give that damn song away?’
“‘Nice to meet you too, bruh, cool. I’m Ne-Yo.’ ‘Why you give that damn song away?’ To this day, he yell at me about giving that damn song away. But I was just a songwriter when I wrote it, I didn’t write it for myself.”

Sharpe then asked Ne-Yo if he believed he could have done the song the same kind of justice as Mario.
“I’ll be the first to tell you that Mario got chops that I don’t,” Ne-Yo admitted. “I ain’t got no shame in that, but I know that I got chops too. So yeah, I feel like it would’ve worked either way.”
