NBA YoungBoy is reportedly suffering from survivor’s guilt following the fatal Miami shooting during Rolling Loud festival last weekend. The incident took the life of 43-year-old Hertz rental car employee Mohamad Jradi, who had just finished his shift across the street from the location of the shooting.
According to an article published by the Miami Herald, YoungBoy’s attorney, James Manasseh, says his client wants to help Jradi’s family and wishes he would have been killed instead.
“He told me, ‘I wish they would have gotten me, not him,’” Manasseh said.
Gunfire erupted outside the Sunny Isles Beach Resort on Sunday (May 12) in what Manasseh called an “assassination attempt” on YoungBoy’s life.
Manasseh said he’s an “absolute victim” in this case. Police determined YoungBoy’s entourage acted in self-defense and no charges were filed against them.
However, because YoungBoy is on probation for a 2016 nonfatal drive-by shooting, a judge hauled him into a Baton Rouge courtroom on Friday (May 17) and he was promptly taken into custody for possible probation violations. District Judge Bonnie Jackson cited the shooting and YoungBoy’s use of social media in “talking trash and smack” as the reason for the arrest.
Baton Rouge prosecutors have asked the judge to revoke his probation. A probation-violation hearing is scheduled for June 21. YoungBoy faces up to 10 years in prison.
