Over the course of his storied career, Nas has collaborated with many an artist. On his most recent stop at BET’s 106 & Park, the emcee received accolades from two of them.
After listing Nicki Minaj as one of the best female rappers he has ever heard (though giving the title to Lauryn Hill), Nas was surprised by a call from Nicki, who congratulated him on Life Is Good, his 10th studio album.
“I just wanted to call in and send my love vibes over to Nas,” said Nicki. “To be such a superstar and such an icon, he was so humble,” said Nicki of Nas, whom she kissed in her video for “Right By My Side”. 
“I didn’t really expect that from him. He was the most humble person on the set and it just took my respect for him to another level.”
Mary J. Blige also called into the show to congratulate Nas on his latest. “Thank you so much for being so consistent and loving us so much that you would take care of us the way you have, through your lyrics, through your videos. You are the truth,” said MJB, who is featured on the Life Is Good cut “Reach Out.” “Thank you so much for letting me be a part of…’Reach Out.'”

It Was Written is probably one of the most slept-on albums.
Nastradamus wasn’t good. And I Am was just aight. Aside from that though, look at his track record.

Well he followed the Gangsta/Mafioso theme for a bit… but yeah. He could of improved greatly if he had the ability to pick beats Jay-Z has and better subject matter at times but all the same he his my 3rd favourite Emcee of all time.

I Am is my favorite Nas album. Shit is a classic to me.
The Lost Tapes is his second best work, Nas has so many unreleased jewels.
And I don’t like everything on IWW, but it’s easily his third or fourth best album off the strength off The Message, I Gave You Power and especially Take It In Blood alone.
I been a fan since it was written and he did change for a bit when he got some fame and money but it didn’t last long and then he went back to himself

I feel like Nas is holding it down for hip-hop. He’s going to keep this culture alive by releasing material that is undisputedly so classic and so real that people just have to recognize.
He puts people like Rick Ross, Wayne, etc..to absolute shame through his realness and his lyrical ability.
I think there will be quite a few of the younger generation who will be a big step up into recognizing the real hip-hop through this album.

Umm… I was 2 and a half when Illmatic came out and now it’s a top five favorite album for me. Music has no age limit you can go back and listen to older music, I mean I’m into 70’s R&B/Soul/Jazz, 70’s-90’s rock, 80’s-90’s for hip hop. It’s by no means a bad thing to give respect to the people who came before you.
I know Nicki Minaj called in but just her calling in makes me not want to buy the album. Also really “Affirmative Action” is her favorite song? Have you heard Illmatic? God’s Son? Stillmatic? Those albums? Now It’s Still Written is a great album but she didn’t even pick one of the better songs. Man fuck Nicki Minaj, it’s a disgrace to say she’s from NY. Nas you sold out even though you came back with a better flow, you put shitty artists on there and the beats are fucking horrible.
