Nas Owes $6 Million to IRS

From spousal payments to back taxes, Nas has had some trouble with the Tax Man in recent year. Now, the Queensbrdge is back in hot water with the IRS with sources reporting that the rapper now owes close to $6 million.

According to The Detroit News, Nas owes $6.46 million for properties in Eagles Landing, GA and Queens, NY. A lein filed by his Queens condo’s managers indicates that God’s Son hasn’t paid his monthly $420 assessments since January 2010, in addition to the $3,860 in common charges.

This isn’t the first time that Nas has gone afoul of the IRS. Early last year, DX reported that he owed over $2.5 million in remiss taxes.

Despite this most recent report, Nas had a financial triumph earlier this month when a Los Angeles County Superior Court judge cut his spousal support fees in half

    1. now we can accept more albums and touring from nas, and features with other rapers he would probably not work with…

      1. You mean like the other times hes tried to sell out a little bit? Wouldnt be surprised. And the word you meant to use is expect. I hope you dont embarrass yourself in real life like that.

    2. Greedy ass government bastards, and baby mommas really hurting my guy pocket! Now that nigga gotta get on his grind!

    3. Wow this is crazy Nas. What have you been doing with your money. These cats go to understand it’s called the “music business”. You must pay attention to “business”. How is he gonna come up with this money?

    4. Perfect example of how talented yet truly terrible at decision making Nas is. I’m a fan of his music but his choices in beats, women, career moves, and money are almost laughable. How have you been in the game for this long and you are STILL not controlling your own music and label? He’s still a worker (for the label AND Kelis). For someone who preaches intelligence, his actions show otherwise. I’m sure the pom pom swingers will get pissed but that’s how I see it. This brother needs to get his shit together.

      1. Very true, Co-sign dis shit,. beat selection is horrible,. when i think of nas , all i hear is life’s a bitch,. memeory lane ,. it aint hard to tell , N.Y. state of mind etc etc ,. evrythign off illmatic ,. then i draw a blank…..

    5. Smart-dumb n*ggas:

“n**gas fear what they don’t understand, hate what they can’t conquer, guess it’s just the nature of man” – Nas

stay out of his business motherfuckers. He has given too much to hip hop to have you bitch made cunts talking about him like this.

    6. The writing on this site is awful. Spelling and grammatical errors everywhere. How do you expect anyone other than uneducated idiots to take you seriously?

    7. Sad news. Why the fuck does NaS need two houses though? Thats how you get in trouble with the IRS, buying shit you dont need. And whats wrong with renting a chain once and a while? Saves money. C’mon NaS, the fans love you and we hate to see any man go through hard times. First that skank ass bitch Kelis and now this? Start selling t-shirts man, you owe SIX MIL GOD DAMN. Peace Love and Hip Hop.

    8. HAHA this nigga owes 6 million for some bullshit no one cares. This is why he’s done. That motherfucker been irrelevant for years. Gucci Mane has influenced Alexander the Great, Einstein and Gandhi.

      It’s Gucci Time!

      1. Say that again, except this time get into some drag, record “For Fuck Sake, LEAVE NAS ALONE!”, upload it to youtube, and you’ll be set for life from being paid out of Youtube’s coughers.

    9. This is just stupid.. U make all that money and u still owe the tax man. I dont get it, is it that this rappers are to bust smoking weed and fucking groupies that they forget to settle there tax and handle there money. Real dumb, thats why as much as people hate on 50 cent and p diddy u gotta luv the fact that they are smart when it comes money.

    10. SMH at some of the comments in here. The US tax code is very difficult to understand. Hell, I had to pay the IRS last year. At the end of the day, Nas will not have to pay the full $6 mil. I don’t know how many of you have ever had to deal with the IRS, however, the people that work there are just data entry clerks, they no nothing about tax law, which is sad. If he gets a good tax lawyer, this amount will be slashed in half, maybe more. The IRS is know for making mistakes.

    11. cant believe how many IRS dickriders there are on this website. the IRS is criminal; this is theft.

since when did supporting the State become cool in hip hop? because i know it wasnt that way back in the NWA/PE days

      1. It’s funny you should say that. I’m pretty sure Chuck D is still against the IRS and state tax laws being that he’s so pro-education.

If you didn’t catch the sarcasm, that means you too have a lot to learn about taxes, yourself.

    12. $6 milion?! goddamn! nas iz gettin fucked in da azz by da irs. diz guy’z gon b broker than a muthafucka. 2 all u nas dickridaz, y don’t u c jay-z! or kanye gettin fucked by da irs? bcuz they handle there money like real men r supposed 2. diz iz anotha reason y nas iz wack and jay-z! iz betta. “smarten up nas!”

      RNGMB BITCH!

      1. Cosigned. Also nas gets served with divorce papers while jayz is happily married. Takeover is wayy better than gay ass ether. The list goes on and on. Nas is a Loser with a capital L. I cant believe Damian marley did a album with this clown ass nigga nas.Pay your taxes and child support scum bag. nas tries to act all intellectual but he’s really a dumb muthafuka.

      2. Huge Jay fan, but this has nothing to do with jay-z,. Jay and nas are 2 polar opposites,. Jay flosses, Nas is reserved , unflashy,. Nas is not a business man or a leader. IRS gonna let your debt build up then hit you all at once. Nas need to do somethign while he hot cause i know for dmn sure he aint sitting on millions.

      3. Smarten up Nas? Look at your sentence structures and how you word shit..damn. Just because he owes 6 mil doesn’t mean much Nas is loaded.

      4. jayz happily married hahahahaha the nigga aint getting a son from beyonce, and why..not cuz beyonce dont want kids..cuz she has a huge black cock that she sticks in gay-z’s ass…happily married ya right

      5. What happened to scottie minor i want to hear how the white man acting black is to blame for this and what did kelis do that was so bad. For all you know nas cheated on her and gave her herpes and so she got him the best way she could. Y’all need to stop dissing her cause you don’t know the facts behind their divorce.

    13. Maybe its because im not from the empire but i cant understand how a man who owes 6 million dollars can be sentenced to pay 25 000 dollars a month in childsupport? How does that compute? Your country is completely insane. Stay strong Nas. One.

      1. The tax issue is a result of past monies collected by Nas in which no tax was deducted nor reported as required by law.

After computation of his earnings (and his eligible deductions, don’t worry about that) he, as everyone else, is required to pay a tax on that figure.

Even though he’s currently required to pay child support does not make him no longer responsible for tax payments he’s past due on.

    14. Honestly someone tell me what Nas been doing for the last couple years? no features, no album,. havent heard of any business deals,. no fat burger or wing joints , no crown royal, or sprite commercials,. no ciroc, no FILA adds, ??no mountain dew spots,. what up nas,. create a mineral water,. or headphones of a HP laptop or sumthin… seriousely this is sad to see from someone of this calibre.

      1. Its only sad if a person can’t do the math. Last year as it was stated that Nas owed the IRS 2.1 million in Taxes that was estimated from the $11 deal from Def Jame for that year alone. This year he taxes are times 3 of last year. So, that simply means that dude made somewhere around $33 million. And for the record, an ARTIST MAKES THE MAJORITY OF THEIR MILLIONS FROM TOURS – JayZ is no exception! HELLO! Nas has been touring his critically acclaimed “Distant Relatives”, Album all year in the US. Now, They are starting a World tour starting in February through every month and country of the world until July or August 2011!

    15. The IRS is going after everybody who’s in the entertainment biz. This special taskforce ain’t playing at all. Who’s next???

    16. Nas aught to take some business classes. He can’t manage money at all. Good news for fans of his music though. He’ll be making music forever because he has no business sense.

    17. Sigh…So sad! Tax season hasn’t even started yet…and people are trying to criminalize dude for getting ahead in life. Look its simple: Def Jam reported that Nas received $11 million in 2009 – minus 22.1% millionaire tax bracket comes to about $2.2 million. New album dope and critically acclaimed album dropped in May 18, 2010. Nas and Jr Gong started touring from May through December 2010. The concert was crazy – I went in September! Anyway, what people don’t know is that you make most of your MONEY FROM TOURING = $$$$MILLIONS$$$! DO THE MATH IF YOU CAN, HE OWES 6.46 MILLION THIS YEAR – MEANS HE MADE AROUND $33 MILLION. So, for you pathetic souls that just hate as the IRS because Tax season has started yet. Nas is laughing at you as he piles up paper. And on a last note, he starts a world tour with Jr Gong from february all the way through July or August! Get Paper Nas and let the stupid one loath!

      1. First off, tax season begins on January 1st 12:00 am, just as it does every year. I know Nas has to wait until February 15th, but still…

Plus, the article is saying that he owes money for properties that are currently under his name…not his earnings for the year. So the figure you see there (6mil) was calculated from payments Nas and his accounting staff (or person) neglected to pay in to in 2010…not from what he was paid in 2010.

    18. I have lost a little respect for Nas. I thought he was a very smart brother and on top of his shit but he is drowning in shit. He need some mentoring from JAY-Z. Perhaps, a loan too.
