Nas has been suggested as a replacement for Diddy as pressure grows to revoke his honorary key to New York City.
Various NYC council members have been pressuring mayor Eric Adams to take back the symbolic key after CCTV footage emerged of the Bad Boy mogul assaulting his ex-girlfriend Cassie.

Several members of the council spoke to TMZ, including Sandy Nurse who said: “Mayor Adams should immediately revoke Diddy’s key to the city. As an abuser, Diddy lost his right to have such an honor and should be held accountable for his actions. Mayor Adams should set the example and take it away.”
Fellow council member Shaun Abreu commented: “Mayor Adams should snatch back Diddy’s key and slam the door behind him. We won’t be missing you.”

Council member Justin Brannan also offered up a replacement for Diddy in Nas, calling the Queensbridge rapper the “G.O.A.T.”
Diddy received the key to the city last September — just two months before he was sued by Cassie for sexual assault, among other crimes — but mayor Adams has spoken about the possibility of revoking it.
In an interview with PIX11 earlier this week, Adams addressed the footage of Diddy’s assault and said: “I think all of us were deeply disturbed by watching that chilling video of the young lady being assaulted by him.
He added: “The committee and the team, we’ve never rescinded a key before, but we are now sitting down to see what the next steps forward are going to be […] We are taking everything under analysis and the team will come back [to] me with a final determination.”

The footage in question, obtained by CNN late last week, shows Diddy viciously assaulting Cassie in a hotel corridor in 2016.
The mogul can be seen running out of his hotel room wearing nothing but a towel and throwing the singer to the floor as she waits for an elevator.
He then kicks and stomps her as she lies on the floor before dragging her back to his hotel room. The CCTV footage also shows him pushing her up against a wall as she tries to use a hotel phone and throwing a vase in her direction.
Diddy has since apologized for his actions in the video, claiming he was at “rock bottom” at the time.

“My behavior on that video is inexcusable. I take full responsibility for my actions in that video. I’m disgusted. I was disgusted then when I did it. I’m disgusted now,” he said in a solemn video posted to Instagram.
“I’m so sorry. But I’m committed to be a better man each and every day. I’m not asking for forgiveness. I’m truly sorry.”

Cassie’s lawyer called the apology “disingenuous.”
