When N.O.R.E., who released The War Report and The War Report 2 as a member of C-N-N, travels abroad, he often meets American soldiers who are inspired by his career.
“Seeing soldiers in the U.S. is dope, but it’s always great seeing U.S. soldiers abroad,” N.O.R.E. says in an exclusive interview with HipHopDX. “When I’m overseas, in Germany in the U.S. base or I’m in wherever-have-you, those moments are more touching to me. When you’re American and you’re in America, it’s your land, but when we’re abroad, overseas or wherever-have-you or whatever the case is, you see American soldiers that just came from Afghanistan or came from Iraq or whatever, we sit there and build. It means more to me. I’m not saying that in America it doesn’t mean nothing to me, but I mean, I kinda got used to that. A lot of times, you meet a soldier flying by themselves. They’ll bump them up to first class and I’ll sit right next to them for six hours on the way to L.A. We’ll be kicking it.
“But it means a little more to me when I’m abroad because at the end of the day, if something was to happen to me, those are the people I’ve gotta go to,” he adds. “Who am I gonna call? The police from out there? I’m not doin’ nothing. I gotta go to the army base. I gotta go see what’s up with them. If I need some Cheerios or Fruity Loops, I’ve gotta go to the army base. You know? Shit like that. So, like I said, man, when I’m abroad, I get a chance to sit down and really get in-depth and go on out and eat some french fries with these dudes. They call them freedom fries and shit…But I’ma always enjoy the conversations of not just C-N-N music motivating them, but if they was Latino, when I did the Reggaeton thing, they appreciate that. If they was into parties, when I was doing the N.O.R.E., partying, if they was enjoying any of my music, it’s always great to hear.”
N.O.R.E. and Capone have recently announced a reunion that pairs the duo with Penalty Entertainment through N.O.R.E.’s Militainment. They are working on an upcoming album with contributions from Tragedy Khadafi. Noreaga spoke about the signing in a press release.
“I’m excited to once more be apart of Penalty, a company I helped build in the late ’90s,” he said. “Get ready for us to shake the game up this time around.”
