Lisa “Lefteye” Lopes, a member of the trio TLC, has reportedly died in a car accident while vacationing in Honduras. Although seven people were said to be traveling in the vehicle no one else sustained serious injury. TLC manager, Bill Diggins received a phone call Thursday night around 11 pm to inform him of the accident. “We had all grown up together and were as close as a family. Today we have truly lost our sister”, said TLC members Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins and Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas in a joint statement through Diggit Entertainment.

Although TLC were reportedly hard at work on their fourth album, Lefteye recently shocked the hip-hop community when she signed to Tha Row Records as a solo artist. Lefteye, who planned to rap under the name N.I.N.A., “New Identify Non Applicable”, was set to record her first solo album for Suge Knight’s label later this year in Los Angeles. “No words can possibly express the sorrow and sadness I feel for this most devastating loss,” said Antonio “L.A.” Reid, CEO of Arista Records, who has known TLC for 10 years. “Lisa was not only a gifted and talented musical inspiration, but more importantly, she was like a daughter to me. My thoughts and prayers are with Lisa’s family and friends. Her legacy will be remembered forever.”

Both Tha Row Records and Arista Records have not given any notice on whether they plan to release the work Lopes had completed before her untimely death.
