Mustard Talks Drake, Akademiks & ‘Bots’ In Discussion Of Album Sales

Mustard has plenty of opinions surrounding the stats on his new album Faith of a Mustard Seed, and he dragged Drake and Akademiks into the mix when sharing them.

On Friday (August 2), the producer took to X to discuss the response to the project. He began by saying he was “beyond grateful” for his reported first week sales of 18,000 sales equivalent units.

Just hours later, though, he changed his tune.

“Album sales are a form of white supremacy you n-ggas racist,” he wrote.

He then mentioned Akademiks, who frequently reports on the first week numbers of big Hip Hop albums (including Mustard’s). His message also nodded at the fact that Mustard is not well-liked by Drake fans since producing Kendrick Lamar’s Drizzy diss “Not Like Us.”

“Drake is the Malcolm x of white people,” Mustard wrote, accompanying the sentiment with a tears of joy emoji. He went on to reference Gordo’s new album Diamante, which Drake executive produced and guested on.

“And Akademiks make sure you post [Gordo’s] first week since drake thought he did a thing with making him drop on the same day as me,” Mustard continued.

The response from Drake-favoring accounts inspired Mustard to follow up that message with several saying that Drizzy-related “bots” were invading his mentions.

“These drake bots are the Nation of drizzlam,” he joked. “These bots tryna fade me.”

Mustard finished the discussion by saying “a bot could never make me ungrateful” about the response to his album.

Faith of a Mustard Seed arrived on Friday (July 26). It features Vince Staples with ScHoolboy Q on “Pressured Up,” Travis Scott on “Parking Lot,” Roddy Ricch on “Truth Is” and more.

Young Thug hops on “Ghetto” alongside Lil Durk, while Future makes an appearance on “Mines” alongside Ty Dolla $ign and Charlie Wilson.

The album was announced soon after Mustard achieved the first No. 1 song of his career, thanks to Kendrick Lamar’s Drake diss track “Not Like Us.”

To that point, ScHoolboy Q expressed excited over L.A.’s return to the music scene at the hands of the 34-year-old producer.

Taking to X earlier in the summer, the Southern California MC revealed that he’d already heard Faith of a Mustard Seed, and he couldn’t wait for everyone else to check it out.
