Mozzy has opened up about his struggles with substance abuse, crediting his kids with helping him get on the right path.
During an interview with Home Grown Radio that went live last week, the 36-year-old discussed the severity of his past vices and how he was able to claw his way out of self-destructive tendencies stemming from unrestrained alcohol consumption and more.

“I’m just saying, though, addiction is real,” he said at the 15:45 mark. “I done had my struggles with it, where I put it down, picked it up, put it down, picked it up, put it down, picked it up, and anybody whose had an addiction to something, y’know, of that magnitude, completely understand [what I’m saying].”
“Just looking at my children and be like, ‘I gotta be here, I gotta be here for the long haul,'” he added. “That was the inspiration for me to put it down.”
Last year, Mozzy also thanked one of his peers for helping him stay motivated regardless of his situation. The “I Ain’t Perfect” hitmaker linked up with the Killer Mike back in December, with the two sharing kind words for one another on the heels of their poignant “SHED TEARS” collaboration on HipHopDX‘s 2023 album of the year, Michael.
“Welcome home,” the Run The Jewels MC said to Mozzy, who was held in police custody prior to the meeting for a shooting that involved someone from his crew in Kansas.
The California rapper and singer then gave Mike his flowers, saying: “Congratulations and much continued success. I’m excited to get back to work and be with my people. I appreciate you for the alley-oop. You know I be struggling it’s a fight every day to keep going or transition into something else.”

He continued: “But to just see how they embracing you and that Grammy is just a refreshing motivation like to keep going. Stay stubborn about it.”
