Racing to the top of the nation’s box office is The Fast and the Furious, Universal Pictures’ summer blockbuster about street drag racing in Los Angeles. The movie, starring Paul Walker, Vin Diesel, Jordana Brewster, Michelle Rodriguez and Hill Harper, had moviegoers packed into theaters and grossed $41.6 million in its opening weekend. Ja Rule makes a cameo in the film and lends his throaty wordplay to the soundtrack on four tracks including solo cuts, “Furious” and “Life Ain’t A Game”. Look out for Ja in the upcoming Crime Partners with Snoop Dogg and Ice T later this year.
More movie news:
John Woo (Mission Impossible II, The Killer) is set to direct the next Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles feature film. This time around, the franchise is returning to its gritty and dark flavor from the classic comic books that built the Turtles’ original fan base with direction from one of Hollywood’s most noted action filmmakers. The eighth installment of the TMNT movies is expected to be in theaters by Christmas 2002.
Another super hero will leap from the comic pages to the movie screen as Nicholas Cage is in talks to play the lead of Johnny Blaze in Ghost Rider. The Marvel Comics anti-hero’s feature film has swirled around the rumor mill for years but development appears to be finally on the way to bring the Ghost Rider (who has had his name dropped in as many rap songs as anybody) and his flaming skull to the big screen.
