It looks like the independent world is blowing up with mixtape releases. Most of the list reflects that this week, as solid dates are generally coming from artists like Wordsworth, Verse Simmonds, Wordsmith and others. The biggest news arrived in limbo land, though, as Jadakiss announced a mixtape Consignment, coming before his long-awaited album Top 5 Dead or Alive. However, mixtape miracle worker DJ Drama is perhaps the busiest on this list. Drama is geared to drop a bunch of Gangsta Grillz mixtapes. The recent announcement came from Freddie Gibbs, who will be dropping Baby Face Killa with Drama sometime soon. Then of course there’s The Lost Tape with 50 Cent, and Ransom’s Winter’s Coming. No dates yet for any of these, but hey, no dates really stick in the mixtape world, now do they?
