Mistah F.A.B. Defends Ghostwriting, Says “This Game Is About Writing Hit Records”

Speaking with HipHopDX about the negative connotation surrounding ghostwriting in the Hip Hop community, Mistah F.A.B. explained his take on the practice and said, “don’t judge someone else if that’s what they chose to do.”

“I don’t think age has to do to it,” Mistah F.A.B. says in a clip that debuted as a part of today’s DX Daily (October 23), “but when you get to a mindset and a level of comprehension you understand that this game is about writing hit records. It’s about doing things that get checks, you know? As much as we love it, we all have lifestyles that has to be paid for and this is what funds them. So people can go on and say whatever, ‘Oh, I’m a real Hip Hop artist, I write my own lyrics.’ Okay. Is that really being successful for you? If it’s making a great career for yourself then be happy in your own eachness. That’s what I like to call it ‘cause each his own. Be happy with that, but don’t judge someone else if that’s what they chose to do and they continuing to move forward.”

    1. If he co signs ghostwriting that means he’s willing to have another rapper write for him as well.Punk ass!! Yeah its about writing hit records. Not having somebody else write them for you.punk ass weak rappers using ghostwriters then act as if they write there own lyrics!

    2. While i don’t agree with this guy’s take on ghostwriting, i do agree we should not knock another person’s hustle. I just won’t support it and would never spend a dime on dude’s like this.
Please people, stop supporting these hacks and they will go away.

And i don’t ever want to hear this guy call himself an artist. Artists deal with art form, and this art form do no support ghost writing.

    3. If the games about writing hit records and a rapper can’t right there own, then that’s telling them something. The game isn’t for them. I got no respect for this clown.indirectly saying that if he as to he’d use a ghostwriter to write his rhymes for him.Dumb ass!!

    4. This clown said “Its about doing things that get checks, you know?” he’ll do anything for a check then hahaha… ” Be happy with that, but dont judge someone else if thats what they chose to do and they continuing to move forward. haha they moving forward off somebody elses writing skills lol no respect for this dude

    5. This dude be too shorts cousin or nephew. I remember watching one of those DVDs smack or sub zero fey years ago and fab was getting interviewed and too short was going into some office nearby at the time and too short said that’s his nephew or cousin.so how come they trying to keep it secret?in post where too short said that fab motivated him to make a album i’m sure he doesn’t mention that him and fab are related?

    6. You never realise how dumb some rappers are until they get interviewed lol I agree with dude. Don’t support these clowns. They want to make money off hip hop but they don’t respect the art form. All they care about is if it brings them a check > “Its about doing things that get checks, you know?” smh

    8. All of you hip-hop purist in these comments need to understand that this shit is a business. You can be lyrical all you want but it doesn’t matter if you aren’t making hit records. Plus he’s not talking bar for bar, he’s likely just talking about the hooks. One thing ppl don’t understand is that a lot of ppl can make hits but they can’t make them for themselves. They don’t have the right look, big enough fanbase, etc. Yung Berg, Skillz, Mistah Fab, etc. all write shit for other ppl that’s bigger than any of the shit they’ve put out. The only issue with this is when rappers get big headed & start talking about they’re the best, even though they aren’t writing their hits.

    9. “YOU’RE KNOCKN HIS HUSTLE – HE GHOSTWRITES FOR PEOPLE FOR $$$$$$.. THE HATER IN YOU. YOU B*TCH YOU.”…Nobody isn’t knocking the ghostwriters that are making there $$$$$ or hating on them.We be talking about the talentless rappers that need ghostwriters.so go eat a bowl of dicks with a spoon..then burp!!

    10. I agree hip hop is a business. That means if a rapper can’t write there own lyrics then maybe rapping is the wrong business for them to be in…”He’s likely just talking about the hooks”..says who?..and it wouldnt matter if he’s talking about hooks or bars. A dope talented rapper should be writing there own thoughts etc. Imagine going to get your car repaired and the mechanic says “I can’t fix your car but I’ll call my friend to fix it instead” (see where i’m coming from?) you wouldn’t give him anymore business.People need to stop supporting talentless lyric buying rappers. Let them find a different “business” to be in.

    11. if you don’t write your own lyrics I don’t wanna hear that shit bunch of fake artists out here watered down bullshit

    12. “This Game Is About Writing Hit Records” (his own words) so if a rapper can’t write there own then they need to get out the game then.Simple!!

    13. “When did Mistah have a hit” that’s true. I don’t know of any.I don’t really play dude.I don’t even know any of his joints
