Walt Disney Studios has created a stereoscopic 3-D music video combining two of Missy Elliott’s songs featured in the upcoming soundtrack to Step Up 2 the Streets, which opens Feb. 14.
According to Billboard.com, MTV will premiere the video in 3-D on Monday (Feb. 4) during TRL. Special glasses for home viewing will be distributed via several promotions.
The video, which combines the songs Ching-a-ling and Shake Your Pom Pom, was directed by Dave Meyers. Meyers has worked with Elliott before, including videos for Lose Control and Get Ur Freak On.
The video will also be shown in 3-D during a special screening of Step Up 2 the Streets on Feb. 5 in New York. “It was a perfect fit,” said Glen Lajeski, Disney’s executive vp music,
creative and marketing. “Missy always wanted to do a 3-D music video,
and Disney has done a lot of movies in 3-D.” Lajeski indicated that he expects to see more of this type of project in the future.
Missy’s songs for Step Up 2 the Streets will also appear on her new album, which is likely due in May.
