Missy Elliott has heaped a ton of praise on Hip Hop ahead of her historic induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

The Virginia native – who stands to be the first female rapper ever inducted into the HOF – sat down with Robin Roberts on Good Morning America on Thursday (November 2) to discuss the feat.

“Words cannot describe [the honor of being inducted],” the multi-hyphenate said. “It just hasn’t clicked. When you in the Hip Hop world, it seems so far out of reach. And it being the 50th year of Hip Hop, just the whole…it’s layers. No matter what people say, the Hip Hop world is something special and unique.”

The 2023 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame ceremony will stream on Disney+ on Friday (November 3), live from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. Along with Missy Elliott, other 2023 inductees include DJ Kool Herc, Chaka Khan, TV host Don Cornelius, and more – all of whom she thanked for their “hard work and impact on music” when reacting to the announcement earlier this year.

“I want to say this is HUGE not for just me but all my Sisters in HIPHOP this door is now OPEN to showcase the hard work that many of us WOMEN contribute to MUSIC,” she wrote in the post. “I have cried all day because I am GRATEFUL thank you @rockhall & all on the committee & Supafriends.”

She continued: “It’s times I have gotten on line & seen your irrelevant your a flop your washed up & it would crush me at times. BUT God you made me STRONG I kept going & you allowed my decades of WORK to SPEAK 4 itself. I am HUMBLED thank you all my Supporters. I LOVE YOU.”

Ever the legend, Missy Elliott has been receiving her flowers from her equally legendary peers as of late, including Lil Wayne and Busta Rhymes.

Back in May, the Virginia native took to Twitter to share photos of the extremely thoughtful present Wayne got her – a custom raincoat with a matching umbrella paying homage to Missy’s 1997 hit, “The Rain (Supa Dupa Fly).”

“@LilTunechi again I Thank you for the Amazing coat that you had made for me (purple my favorite color) & you even got me the umbrella that say ‘I Can’t Stand The Rain’ on it!” Missy wrote. “It spell it out on the umbrella when it rains. I truly appreciate you.”

Wayne previously named Missy in the No. 1 slot of his Top 5 rappers when rattling off his list on the What’s Wright? With Nick Wright podcast.

“It’s always gonna be first Missy Elliott,” he said. “She’s a huge influence of everything I’ve ever done. JAY-Z is the best ever to speak. Biggie, obviously. Then I have the whole Goodie Mob. Then I have UGK.”

Weezy has also credited Missy with inspiring him to start using ad-libs on tracks.

As for Busta, he recently shut down the idea of a Verzuz with Missy Elliott, drawing comparisons to their style and noting that the two are indeed at the same level.

“Never with Missy,” he said in a July interview with Apple Music. “The reason why I can’t ever do a Verzuz or even compete with Missy on a challenging level is ’cause that’s my twin … I’m Missy and she’s Busta Rhymes. I will never ever ever ever ever, because I love her so much, I can’t talk my shit the way I would want to in a Verzuz.”
