Mickey Factz & Nottz Reminisce With “The Achievement: circa ’82” Album

As an homage to a past era, Mickey Factz and Nottz released The Achievement: circa ’82 today (October 28).

The 10-track project features North Carolina legend Phonte on the single “Treat You Right” and Blu, who is a frequent collaborator with The Soul Council producer.

The Soulspazm project is Factz’ debut album after he churned out a string of self-releases, including two projects in 2014.

He signed to Battery/Jive Records in 2010, but nothing came from that venture.

Mickey Factz and Nottz’s The Achievement: circa ’82 album stream, cover art and tracklist are below.

    1. Some People (f. Showtyme)
    2. Masterpiece (f. Blu)
    3. Treat You Right (f. Phonte)
    4. I’m Good
    5. Marina (f. Mack Wilds, Smoke DZA & Curren$y)
    6. Get It
    7. Vs (f. Styles P)

    1. Wow I forgot about Mick Factz. Mickey Mause was in heavy rotation back in 2012, but after that, and his Control remix that every NY cat did back in 2013, he seemed to disappear, or at least wasn’t on my radar. And I was a fan of his since ’08 or ’09, when him, Charles Hamilton, and Kid Cudi were all supposed to go mainstream and create a balance for all the swag/trap bullshit that was all over the radio at the time. Instead two of the three got dropped and the movement that created that balance was more weed smoking swag shit like Wiz and Currensy, and white dudes like Mac Miller and macklemore. Then kendrick and Asap Rocky and Odd future still did kind of a weirdo-vibe mainstream thing, but it was more gangster than Factz and Hamilton. Either way, I forgot about this guy, I used to have extremely high hopes for him, so I will check this out, even though I’m disapointed that Zen featuring Yelawolf and U(Q) featuring erika badu aren’t on it. Those were the promo singles that his label released. Apparently he got dropped and the album turned into a collab with Nottz, which I’m not mad at. I’ll be listening to this for sure.
