Sad news has arrived out of the Rhymesayers Entertainment camp. According to a statement obtained by HipHopDX on Thursday (December 31), MF DOOM has passed away. Known to his countless fans as MetalFace, the elusive MC was famous for his hidden identity, lyrical precision and comic-book persona.
“The greatest husband, father, teacher, student, business partner, lover and friend I could ever ask for,” his wife Jasmine wrote. “Thank you for all the things you have shown, taught and given to me, our children and our family. Thank you for teaching me how to forgive beings and give another chance, not to be so quick to judge and write off.

I was just listening to Ball Skin in the car yesterday thinking about how he’s one of the funniest, most creative emcees of the last 20 years (and yes, he was equally creative as Zev Love X years before that). I was remembering this clip with Mos Def reciting Doom’s verses and bugging out to them. And I was wondering when he might release a new album, how it would be a good time since he’s been off the radar lately, and how hip hop fans would embrace it after this sh**ty year. Damn.
