Fillmore, California veteran rapper Messy Marv has been releasing albums for almost 15 years. The SMC Records artist has done full-length collaborations with San Quinn, Guce and Mitchy Slick, but nothing in his career rivals what Marv recently told website BayCentrik.com.
Confirming that a long-rumored 12-disc release was indeed on the way, Marv told the site about his reasoning for releasing over half a day’s worth of music in one chunk. Called Project Superstar, Marv is self-releasing the collection to his legions of longtime supporters. “It’s one of them albums that I’m doing just strictly for all the online heads, the Internet heads,” he told BayCentrik.com. “I’m trying to build my online presence so I’m giving them a special package for supporting me for so long. A 12 disc album for a little bit of nothing, you know? You have to log onto ScalenLLC.com to get it.”
Scalen is the name of Marv’s recently-launched clothing line. In December, Messy Marv released his Highly Aggressive Volume 1 mixtape digitally. Check his recent track “I Run Dis Bitch”

Wow, see this is why hip hop is lacking now days cause artists are just throwing fans anything. I like Messy Marv but a 12 disc album really? I guarantee it’s gonna have about 4 discs worth of good quality songs and everything else filler. I think that’s beyond overkill, same for Gorilla Zoe who is releasing 30 mixtapes in 30 days really? Now I respect the fact this shows that these artists stay on the grind developing new music but even the hardcore fanbase would have to scratch they head on that. I’ll take quality over quantity anyday and I’ll admit a lot of these albums recently are seeming too short with 10-12 songs on the tracklist but 12 albums? 30 mixtapes? Just give me a full 15-17 track album of sure-fire bangers and put that other stuff in a vault .
Is this “12-discs worth of music in digital form”, actual 12 CD’s or 12 pieces of vinyl? It seems like it’s a digital release but it doesn’t make itself clear. Inform.
