Memphis Bleek Denies Suge Knight’s Claim JAY-Z Was Once ‘Gagged & Robbed’ On West Coast

Former Death Row Records CEO Suge Knight has been imprisoned since 2015 for the fatal hit-and-run of Terry Carter. But before he was put behind bars, Knight lived a colorful life — and has the stories to prove it. Even so, Memphis Bleek is disputing something Knight said in a 2001 interview with Last Call with Carson Daly.

During the conversation, Knight claimed JAY-Z was once robbed while visiting the West Coast.

“I think JAY-Z is … he does what he do,” Knight said at the time. “Which is some good stuff, but you know. The only thing I know about JAY-Z is that he came to L.A. a few times, and Snoop [Dogg] and [Dr.] Dre told him that, ‘When you on the West Coast — you wrote a song for me — don’t worry ’bout nothing. Next thing I know, he’s taped up, robbed, and gagged. … Out in L.A.”

On Wednesday (February 2), Memphis Bleek re-shared the clip to his Twitter account with the caption, “every cap in the world,” which was accompanied by as many hat emojis as he could find.

Memphis Bleek was one of Roc-A-Fella Records’ first signees and remains loyal to JAY-Z. Last September, he claimed Nas could never beat JAY-Z in a Verzuz during an interview with Bally Sports’ Brandon “Scoop B” Robinson.

“Nas doesn’t have enough songs to compete,” he said. “And it’s no disrespect to him but, he just don’t. Jay can battle somebody with just his B-Sides concert catalog, and it’ll still be better than people’s A-Sides.”

Nas 'Doesn't Have Enough Songs' To Compete In JAY-Z Verzuz According To Memphis Bleek

Memphis Bleek continued, “It would have to be somebody like Big. That was his only competition that I’ve ever seen that he even felt that was competition. And he knew when they went and did Brooklyn’s Finest. Like, Jay knew that I had to go in the studio with the best-best of me ever because I’m rhymin’ with one of the best from Brooklyn. I’m not gonna let this dude dog walk me on my own record.”

He doubled down on his claims a few days later, tweeting, “All these n-ggas talking like I suppose to say it’ll be a good battle!! EAT A FRANK #Nobody I mean #Nobody fucking wit my team! #Roc4Life.” Check out his original comments below.

    1. how can he say Nas doesn’t have enough songs to compete with Jay-Z then said only Big could challenge him?? Big only did ONE album while he was alive! lol. smh

    2. Yeah BIG catalogue wont all that while alive and by who does he mean cant f… With jay catalogue. Lil wayne exceeds jay everything #1 for a whole generation was cash money lil wayne then young money gotta get pac n death row whole catologue just to compare. hov n roca whoo dont compare memphis bleek best compares to gudda gudda. Add in all the countless weezy features shhh

    3. I do believe Suge on this. Otherwise why did Jay give Suge that song for the Dysfunctional Family soundtrack. Suge talked about this years ago. And Jay Z catalogue doesn’t come close to Nas. Nas has put out 3 great albums in the last 3 years. Jay hasn’t done shit. He is so over rated and that album with Beyonce was fucking trash!!

    4. If you ask peeps that live on Jay nutsack like Bleek, they’ll tell you nothing bad ever happen to him in his life or that he never took an L. We should know better than to listen to the words of failed rappers. Next he’ll be telling us that Jay was King before Big. Only reason he mention BIG is that he from Bedstuy Broooklyhc

    5. Suge is a funny dude, but you gotta take what buddy says with a grain of salt, if that! I understand Bleek’s loyalty to Hov, but dude is outta his hype man mind if he thinks Nas Escobar ain’t got enough heat for Jigga! Once Nas performs ether in New York City! Game Over!

    6. As much as I love Pun as a lyricist, This is funny as Hell and facts! Big Pun wasn’t chasing nobody at well over 400 something pounds!

    7. We can all rest safe now, Bleek confirmed something negative about Jay isn’t true… that was a close one!
