Megan Thee Stallion has been called out by the family of Megan Kanka over a lyric on her latest single “Hiss.”
The Houston rapper dropped the venomous song on Friday (January 26), sparking a war of words with Nicki Minaj over an apparent shot at the Young Money hitmaker.
“These hoes don’t be mad at Megan, these hoes mad at Megan’s Law/ I don’t really know what the problem is, but I guarantee y’all don’t want me to start,” she raps on the song.
Seemingly directed at Nicki’s husband, convicted sex offender Kenneth Petty, “Megan’s Law” is a federal law requiring authorities to make information available to the public regarding registered sex offenders.
The law is named after Megan Kanka, who was murdered in 1994 by a sex predator who wasn’t legally required to identify himself in his neighborhood at the time.
Megan was seven years old when she was was raped and killed by her neighbor Jesse Timmendequas after he lured her into his house. He was previously convicted of child molestation.
Now, her father, Richard Kanka, has slammed Megan Thee Stallion for using his daughter’s name in her diss song battle with Nicki Minaj.
According to TMZ, Richard is “fuming” over the line and the fact that she’s bringing attention to the law doesn’t change his ill feeling.
Richard described the use of his daughter’s name on “Hiss” as “highly offensive” to both his daughter’s memory and her family’s pain.
The father has yet to listen to the song but was made aware of it by one of his children and isn’t impressed after reading the lyrics.
He is also considering taking legal action against Megan, although TMZ speculate this will be an uphill battle given the liberties that artists have when it comes to referencing cultural and historical events in their music.
“Hiss” prompted a response from Nicki Minaj in the form of “Big Foot,” which saw her attacking Megan Thee Stallion over being shot in the foot, accusing her of undergoing liposuction and referencing her mother’s death.
Megan previously appeared on The Breakfast Club to explain who “Hiss” is aimed at.
“It’s for these bitches and hoes, bitches and hoes alike, men or women,” she said. “Every time one of these motherfuckers uses Megan Thee Stallion name, they get 24 hours of attention.
“Basically, I understand what y’all doing, and I want y’all to get up off me. Use something else. Do something different. Use another tactic. This one getting old.”
She added: “I’m saying, a hit dog gon’ holler. That’s it. Whoever feel it, feel it.”
petition it online raise money……. Not the most i ideal verse
They named the law after the little girl. You can’t take it personal everytime somebody references the law by name.
I agree, she is the rapper and her name is Megan too. I am more than sure Meg would not say it as a disrespect to the child or family at all. Just as you shared, they are taking it personal.
What a little puss. I’d be more offended that a sex offender law was named after my dead daughter in the first place. Would care less a rapper I don’t even listen to used to make fun of a clown like Nicki.
cause he racist
People stay mad at stupid things. All of the energy to be upset about a mention of a law, not his child, is ridiculous, and should be put into garnering more attention to the law that Meg Thee Stallion has produced. As a survivor, they do be mad at Megan’s Law! She spit facts!
And it should not be a law if they were taking care of the little girl in the 1st place! They should be upset with themselves it was their fault.
You’re the one who wanted her to be remembered. Now you’re mad that people are remembering her…in context? I smell a racist.
