Hip Hop consistently gives back to those in need. Whether it’s back-to-school drives, turkey giveaways or Christmas toy donations, artists are always willing to step up when duty calls. For example, Fat Joe just launched a fundraising effort for the families of the Bronx apartment fire at Twin Parks North-West that killed 17 people and left at least 32 others with life-threatening conditions.
Now, Meek Mill, comedian Kevin Hart and 76ers owner Michael Rubin have put their resources together and donated $15 million to 110 Philadelphia schools serving low-income students. According to a press release, the donation will assist thousands of students from underserved families for the 2022-2023 academic year, and will be spread out among private and parochial schools throughout the area for underprivileged kids to attend these schools.
The donation marks Meek Mill and Rubin’s ongoing commitment to serve their community. In 2020, they created a $2 million scholarship fund to support underprivileged students from pre-K through high school in Philadelphia, providing youth with critical resources during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
For the 2021 Christmas holiday, Rubin and Mill partnered with REFORM Alliance to host a special VIP experience for more than 25 children who’ve been negatively impacted by the criminal justice system and unjust probations. With the help of Patriots owner Robert Kraft, Rubin and Roc Nation, Meek donated $500,000 worth of toys to Philly families in need.
They gifted bikes, video game gift cards, laptops, tablets, dolls and more to dozens of families at a holiday event and donated another $30,000 to the local chapter of Twelve Days of Christmas, a volunteer organization supplying families during the holiday season.
” With the help of , Meek donated $500,000 worth of toys to Philly families in need. ”
so meek didnt donate shit, why dobt they just say, ” Patriots owner Robert Kraft, Rubin and Roc Nation, donated 500k ” . foh zeek
How much did Meek really donate though? He wanted those water boys to split a 20 and we know he ain’t making any money from his labels. Especially after that album flopped. I gotta find a billionaire to let me be his token like Meek.
They gotta start by defunding the police and reducing the amount of police in the streets of Philly and then reinvest that money into schools and social workers. Why is it every suicidal phone call is attended by armed police? send unarmed social workers who can defuse the situation. 99% of calls police attend could be better served by Social Workers, nurses, counsellors and fire department. Ideally we don’t need police in Philly.
