Meek Mill has apologized for interrupting the fight between Gervonta Davis and Hector Luis Garcia with a ringside scuffle of his own against another pro boxer.

Davis and Garcia’s WBC featherweight title boxing match was briefly paused halfway through the eighth round on Saturday night (January 7), due to a commotion in the crowd that had both fighters and the crowd distracted for a moment.

In a clip of the fight’s broadcast on Showtime that has surfaced online, Meek Mill was seen engaged in a discussion with boxer Garry Russell Jr. and his team, before both parties were escorted out of the Capital One Arena just outside of D.C. The rapper later took to Twitter to explain why he missed the end of the fight.

“Congratulations tankkk!!!,” he wrote referring to Gervonta Davis’ nickname. “I almost fought a boxer telling him this fight not going 12 rounds I missed the big bomb!!!!”

While still offering only a few details, Meek added that he had walked away from what he felt was a staged scenario by Russell, who he never mentioned by name. “I would never let no petty shit escalate to let somebody movie run,” he tweeted moments later. “I just walked away .. I came to support tank and boots!!!!!! Good wins [star emojis]”

Gary Russell Jr.’s brothers Antonio Russell and Gary Antuannae Russell — who are both also fighters — were also involved in the disagreement, which apparently centered over Meek’s support of Davis while they were at the fight to support his opponent, PennLive reports. The Dream Chasers boss later returned to Twitter to offer more clarity about what transpired, along with his apology for causing a scene.

“I was nice to everybody at that fight if you was there you saw!,” Meek Mill wrote. “The blogs gone put up the aggressive part after I respond to something aggressive … everybody in that section seen my level of respect towards others… i just gotta step my response game up!

He continued: “I have no business going back and forth that hard with a random person and we just talking about sports…so my apologies for wasting time for nothing! I had a few shots I know how to dodge those! Congrats Tank and boots!!!”

This isn’t the first time in recent days that Meek Mill has narrowly avoided a public fight. The rapper took to Instagram on December 30 to share footage of him exiting the Afro Nation festival following his headlining performance on day one. It shows Meek making his way through an energetic crowd of people right as he is approached by a fan, causing Meek to walk away with an annoyed look on his face.

The Philly native couldn’t stay upset for too long as he received a lot of love from the local Ghanaians who came to see him perform. Meek showed the love from fans in the next bit of footage on his IG.

“They roughed me tf upppppp but the love overpowered it … almost went from dreams to nightmares quick lol,” Meek captioned his post.

Another incident that night saw the Expensive Pain artist robbed of his phone by an alleged pickpocket. It wasn’t long until the phone was found and returned to the Philly rapper. Hours after the incident, Ghana police hand-delivered Meek his phone and revealed that they had arrested a suspect named Nuhu Sule.

However, Meek Mill later admitted that maybe his phone wasn’t stolen and instead it could have fallen out of his pocket while he was out riding his dirt bike.

“I coulda dropped that phone on a dirt bike. I don’t actually know for a fact somebody went in my pocket!” he tweeted on Friday night.

Perhaps a tad bit guilt-ridden, he then let it be known that he didn’t want anyone being charged for the theft, especially given that he wasn’t really sure whether the phone was snatched from his pocket.
