Meek Mill had to do some damage control when Ghanaians around the world dragged him for his upcoming music video that was filmed at the countryā€™s presidential palace.

Over the weekend, the Dream Chasers boss shared a teaser of the music video he filmed while out on vacation in Accra, Ghana. Various scenes show Meek in the country, but there were a few clips that didnā€™t sit well with Ghanaians.

Meekā€™s teaser showed the inside of Ghanaā€™s highest security zone, the Jubilee House, which also serves as the presidential palace. Other scenes show the Philly rapper using the same podium President Nana Akufo-Addo used to address the nation.

Ghanaians wasted no time jumping on social media to vent their frustrations over what they claimed was a desecration of the presidency. Many claimed the video shoot was a security breach while also trying to understand how Meek was allowed security clearance to film the video at such a revered location.

ā€œMeek Mill really shot a music video at Jubilee House? This is the lowest point we can get as a country,ā€ one person wrote on Twitter. ā€œWhat happened to ā€˜Jubilee House is a security zone.ā€™ Even American Embassy in Ghana, you canā€™t take pictures and Ghana allows Jubilee House to become studio. We are FINISH.ā€

Someone else tweeted: All those responsible for this despicable desecration of the Jubilee House by Meek Mill must be fired immediately. How do those explicit lyrics from the presidentā€™s lectern project Ghana positively? Is Ghanaā€™s seat of government no longer a high security installation?ā€

Another person asked if Meek canā€™t do the same in his own country, how is he allowed to do it in a foreign land tweeting: ā€œNah!! This is getting serious, why are we allowing this? Can Meek Mill shoot a music video in the white house? Eii Gh lol . What a country! We have given these guys too much liberty they donā€™t even have in their country.ā€

Meek Mill got word of all the commotion and took down the teaser from his social media pages. However, the post had already done the damage. He did issue an apology on Monday (January 9) and promised to reveal the bigger project he was working on while in Ghana very soon.

ā€œMy apologies to the people if any disrespect! We still gonna push to make the connection between black people in America and Africa ā€¦ what Iā€™m trying to do is more than a video and you should see coming soon! My apologies to the the office also!

This wasnā€™t the only problem Meek Mill had while out in Ghana. When he first got there, he claimed someone pickpocketed his phone, and he wanted it back. The Dream Chasers boss shared several videos on his IG Stories of him out and about with Ghanaians while on his way to the Afro Nation music festival.

The phone was found and returned to the Philly rapper by Ghana police who hand-delivered the item to Meek his phone and revealed that they had arrested a suspect named Nuhu Sule.

ā€œI wanna say thank you guys for getting my phone back to my life, man,ā€ Meek can be heard saying in a video he posted to his Instagram Story showing his phone being returned. ā€œYā€™all ainā€™t let him hack me or nothing, did yā€™all, Commander?ā€

Meek later admitted that maybe his phone wasnā€™t stolen and instead could have fallen out of his pocket while he was out riding his dirt bike.
