According to a news report from Variety, 90s rapper MC Supreme was killed over the weekend in Malibu, California. The website reports that Supreme, real name Dewayne Lawrence Coleman, was sitting in his vehicle when a pickup truck slammed into his car.
The former rapper was pronounced dead at the scene. The other passenger in MC Supreme’s car was taken to a nearby hospital with unknown injuries.
It’s been reported that the person driving the pickup truck involved in the deadly accident, Philip Torries II, may have been driving under the influence. He was subsequently arrested on suspicion of DUI, and vehicular manslaughter.
MC Supreme is most well-known for his “Black In America” record, a song featured on the anti-violence, We’re All In The Same Gang compilation album.
The Huffington Post reports that the musician was dedicated to working with youth and keeping them away from gangs.
MC Supreme was 47-years-old at the time of his death.
