Mayer Hawthorne To Work With Snoop Dogg On Sophomore Album

Stones Throw Records artist Mayer Hawthorne achieved mainstream success on his 2009 solo debut, A Strange Arrangement. The Michigan native and onetime Athletic Mic League member garnered the attention of Snoop Dogg, who called on the vocalist and deejay for his More Malice album earlier this year. That collaboration will continue onto Hawthorne’s next outing, according to a recent interview with Billboard.

Additionally, Hawthorne describes the 2011 release as, “You’re going to hear more of my affinity for Steely Dan and the Beatles and the Byrds and the Hollies and the Doobie Brothers — probably some Public Enemy and N.W.A., too.”

The Hip Hop comparisons make sense, given Hawthorne’s background, and recent appearances alongside Nottz and former band-mate Buff1.
