Marques Houston has responded to those criticizing his relationship with his wife, Miya, who is nearly 20 years his junior, arguing that “people don’t understand it.”
On Wednesday (April 5), The Shade Room posted a clip from the R&B singer’s upcoming episode of TV One’s Uncensored. In the clip, Houston addresses the backlash he’s recieved since marrying his wife, who was 19 at the time, while he was 38.
The former Immature crooner noted that while he did meet his wife when she was 17, there was “really, no conversation and no, really, connection,” until she was of age.
“Me and my wife’s situation is a little different… how we met through mutual friends and everything like that… When I met my wife, she was 17. We had no, really, conversation and no, really, connection until she was of age…” Houston said in the clip.
The singer added: “People don’t understand it. And, of course, I got a lot of backlash for marrying someone that was 19. And, you know, when we did finally start to talk, I was like, ‘This woman is like me’.”
He continued: “For one, we had a spiritual connection, and I feel like that’s the most important thing… and being able to start being around her… we connected through music and her spirit, her kindness, her heart, reminds me a lot of my mom and we connected on so many different levels.”
In recent months, the singer’s You Got Served co-star, Omarion, has been battling his own personal issues. A fan of his who believed she was engaged to the former B2K frontman without ever meeting him had to be let down the hard way during an appearance on Dr. Phil this past February.
Bronx native Simone was brought on the show by her best friend, who was frustrated not only that her friend believed in what was clearly a fake relationship but that she was also sending money to this person purporting to be Omarion.
While the scammer was able to get $300 out of Simone for a “fan club” membership that never materialized, she thankfully had yet to send the $3000 Omarion’s “manager” was trying to charge her to meet him.
After both Simone and her best friend told the story to Dr. Phil, Omarion’s real manager made an appearance to confirm Simone was being scammed – and then the real Omarion appeared via video with a message.
“I heard about today’s show and I definitely want to share this important message with my fans and the viewers,” O started out. “It’s crazy how far these people will go to convince and manipulate my fans to think that they are actually speaking with me. From sending fake drivers licenses and passports — even FaceTiming them claiming that there was a bad connection when they never even seen me. I’m so sorry, Simone.”
Nothing to see here…just the cognitive dissonance of women complaining about hypergamy, when they are actively participating in it.

As a mother of nine it’s sick just to think a man of that age could even find a child /young women attractive in a sexual way period he should want a grown women seems he can’t handle no grown ass women so he had to get him a young lady just starting to figure out life ,responsibilities and most of all her selfs someone he can control in his own sick way I was a fan not no more nasty is nasty 🤮
